Well. My copy arrived today Sunday. Nice surprise. It’s in perfect shape. I’m glad they put the records in poly-lined paper sleeves so not to damage the printed ones. Nice touch. And the resealable plastic sleeve is nice & thick.
So far I’d say I’m impressed with IVC. I’ll re-up for Helmet’s Betty.

Brandon Setta (White Lighters, Oubliette, previously of Nothing) has a new (digital) album out under the name You Wish, mastered by Nick Bassett. Some of you will probably be into it.
Also in that vein...and adjacent to Nothing and Whirr...check out Wisp. She does some fuzzed out heavy shoegaze.

The Whirr/Nothing split reissue will be up on Funeral Party’s Bandcamp at 12am PST / 3am EST Friday morning.

My copy should arrive next week. I guess I may have ordered much later than everyone else. 🤷🏻♂️

I find it curiously funny that when the whole WHIRR “cancellation” happened, G.L.O.S.S. were riding high for a hot minute and then almost overnight just faded to be never heard from again. And yet, WHIRR didn’t really get cancelled as they still played shows, albeit very few, and put out new stuff, and from the looks of things, are still popular.
Weird how that all played out.

The person who wrote that does the indiecast podcast which is a group of 20 year olds who think they know about indie/ emo music, but when they talk about bands it sounds like the most tame takes coming through a Gen Z filter. It's very unfortunate that that's the next generation of music fans/ criticism in a nutshell.
That explains why the article just meandered and repeated itself throughout.

Shipping notification for NIN already?!?!? I will take it!

I read this piece...although it's hella long...that addresses in part on why WHIRR are still popular and whatnot even when they were "cancelled" back when. It has some interesting points, but as I said...it's long.

I read a post by The Veronica's who encouraged people to buy each variant separately to maximize chart shit. They at least provided free shipping, so it had no effect on the consumer. I had never heard of this. That is why Taylor is making everyone buy versions separately and then putting all up at once later. My theory is that even the canceled orders will still count toward sales. Maybe my tinfoil hat needs replacement, but that is my theory.
That was probably me on The Veronicas. They’re trying to crack into the U.S. market a bit more nowadays. The free shipping is cool & they only did two variants in their webstore.
What’s funny they was pointed is that Billie’s last album had 8 variants. But I get what she’s saying about the excessiveness by other major artists.

I was really scared on the build up to “Fist Bump”
Right?!?! I was bracing myself for that...there were a couple of other "bad words" that were changed to make it kid-friendly. And this is so very well-done.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected...

Since the NIN is the April record of the month...should I sign up now or OK to wait til April 1st?
-
I think I may go in the monthly tier for NIN. And Helmet.

Just looked through the full list of indie store variants and this is just excessive. I mean, hey...if you're able to afford to get all 12 plus the others (10C, RSD, regular indie store) more power to you.
I'm OK with the 10C I have pre-ordered and hopefully will snag the RSD one that day. If I make it out of the house.

All 4 vinyl versions are available for 72 hours on her site. Of course.
