Don't listen to these guys.  99% of all thrift store equipment is serviced by a team of highly trained elves with degrees in electrical engineering and audio design. However, because they're mythical beings, they don't require monetary compensation, which allows Goodwill and Salvation Army to keep prices on gear quite low.

Of course, this is all a fairly well-guarded secret and there's a good chance I'll be kicked out of the Super-Exclusive Thrift Store Audio Buyers Club for opening my mouth, but it's a risk that I'm willing to take.  Power to the people!

pmd ignore these pricks who can't read, down vote me all you want but the guy was asking a simple broad question and half of you decide to be ass holes, why even come here if thats all you have to offer, theres plenty of threads for you to contribute to without bashing a guy

I will repeat myself again, I'm just asking if anyone has had good experiences or not, because if say 5 people say yes, the equipment functions and was good, I can be assured that hey, not all thrift store equipment is garbage. That it is a feasible place to find things.

But I will stop by Salvation Army today and take a look at the brands and stuff thanks.

Right now my setup is a Technics 1200MK2 ->DJM600 Mixer -> Guitar Amp (Please don't even comment on this I know it's complete shit but I don't have anything better right now) If you're wondering how I even have any of the other equipment and not speakers I'll tell you I inherited it from my mother who spent alot of money on her DJ-ing hobby.

Anyways my question is, how reliable is any audio equipment from a thrift store? Let me know if you got any good finds from one. Or your experiences otherwise.

Also, let's say I were able to spend more money on equipment, what would you suggest running it through?
    i.e. preamps and speakers

    Thanks guys.

I swear there's no point in ever asking anything. It's a troll farm. All I am asking is if anyone has had good experiences with getting something from a thrift store in terms of equipment. Or if they have not. And in regards to buying new equipment, it's already a hypothetical question so there is no budget, I'm just asking what one would suggest.

If you don't have anything to contribute but Ray J gifs than thanks you're really helpful and I'm glad you took your time to assist in my needs.

And I did my homework, but I don't have the ability to go and test out every single preamp or speaker set-up which is why I'm asking VC.

It was worth the $100 to me simply to not have to deal with the annoying felt mat.

So the Plus with the Grado Green comes to $320 shipped. No arm lift, a falling belt and "questionable" tonearm, bearing and wiring, next to a $350 shipped Carbon Debut, of course fitted with a better cart. Again, this seems far from a good price/performance purchase to me.

To be fair, in this hobby of ours, opinions and specs are really all we have to go on. It's not like there really is an opportunity to compare any of these products firsthand. In my opinion, based on specifications and features, I happen to like the clearuadio tables better than other offerings.
The great thing about the Internet is that my opinion can be helpful to those that need a little guidance, and it can also be completely ignored by anyone who may choose to do so. But that's what the forum is for, to discuss and share our opinions, no?
Nobody would be buying the turntable we are discussing in this thread in the first place if it weren't for opinions and specs. Nobody here has had a chance to examine and hear it first, yet we all drew conclusions and decided whether or not it was a good purchase.

Look at it from my point of view. I make ~15 posts in this massive topic about my hunt for a red. Because people on this site can be major killjoys, I got downvotes til my profile said -130. Now I know not everyone downvoted, but that was enough for me to not want to jump and help the community that was a dick to me for no reason.
I'm sorry to agua, you're a good dude. I really feel bad about that.
But Toko, you're a little bitch dude. Following me around in topics insulting me. Grow a spine.

I think if you cough up the extra $2.50 to have the ticket mailed to you, it is likely transferrable.  My 2013 pre-sale ticket was just a plain old paper ticket.

but yeah...buying this far in advance is not for everyone.

Looking at this guy's website, it seems to me that he has a pretty decent product, but may be lacking in the business sense department.

His bundles make zero sense.  I can buy a 4 pack or a 12 pack (at the same price per).  Why does a 12 pack exist?  Then we go from a 12 pack to a 28 pack? Who needs exactly 28 of these things?  Oh, and then if I buy 29, why is the 29th one $9 and not $7?

The Kickstarter bundles have the same quirks.  There are tier jumps that provide no value to the backer, you're just coughing up extra $.

I guess the advantage of Kickstarter is that you don't have to go through all the hassle and financial obligation of getting a small business loan or footing the startup expenses yourself.   If your Kickstarter flops, you aren't out anything other than a little credibility.
