my bag? is anyone buying records purely for the music? because if so, I would like to sell them a lot of other totally inconvenient items that do something that can be done for way cheaper by something else.

**UPDATED w/ JOYWAVE**
I had the privilege of bringing David Bazan through ESPN last week. Did a podcast with him and Yuuki Matthews (The Shings, Sufjan Stevens) about the Headphones tour, what it was like to record the Bazan Monthly albums and what's on the horizon for Bazan.
Also shot an in-studio video of him playing acoustic versions of Nobody's Perfect, Little Landslides and Animals. This version of Little Landslides is absolutely gorgeous... instantly become a favorite of mine.

Sat down with Joywave yesterday. Super nice dudes.
Talked about their album, how rad it was to hear their music played during the NHL Western Conference Finals, why they've all become Cleveland Browns fans and a whole bunch more.

Nice job. Be nice if you could set the homescreen to your profile instead of browsing new submissions

Most of the people in this thread spend so much time shitting on other people's musical tastes that I am convinced they themselves do not enjoy music at all.
With that said welcome to VC there is a Nu-Metal thread.

To start? Get yourself a french press, read a bit on how to use it, head down to your local small-time coffee shop or roaster, tell them exactly what you wrote there, and ask for help picking a coffee. A quick google search for Dallas says "Crooked Tree Coffeehouse", "Oak Lawn Coffee", and "Murray Street Coffee" are all rated pretty high, or just do a bit of your own research to find a place that looks good to you.
When you decide on a bag of coffee, chances are they can grind it there for you - tell them you use a french press, and they'll pick the right setting for you; it will be course grind. Coffee will always taste best when it's freshly ground right before you use it, but setting yourself up with a proper grinder and other things can be a pretty hefty investment, so having the whole bag ground in advance will do just fine for what you want.
Again, do a bit of research on how to use your press, measure out your coffee, and time it properly. Leaving the coffee in the press for too long will over-extract and give you a gross bitter taste. Taking it too soon will leave the coffee a bit weak and watery. Play with it a bit, find something you like. Fair warning - the coffee that you make will likely taste strong and harsh, and it's pretty possible you'll hate it. There's nothing wrong with adding sugar and dairy to your coffee if that's what you like, so go for it. Do me a favor, though, and every time you make a cup of coffee, taste it first just black, without adding anything. Do this every time, just a little sip. Over time I think you'll find yourself enjoying it with less dairy/sugar.
I'm a barista at an espresso bar, and this is my ideal customer - someone who comes in not knowing anything at all, but is excited to learn and will really listen to any advice I can give or anything else I have to say.

Uh.. yeah? We all "know" each other in this thread for the most part, what do you expect? I mean, sorry to have to say it, but if I had the blue there's no way I'd be hooking up someone with 200 posts vs someone whose posts I've been reading every day for two years.

Today, when my mailman dropped off my package, he had a five o'clock shadow and bloodshot eyes...I've never seen him so agitated and disheveled. Should I just call Amazon and ask for a refund? Or should I go outside and see how the package is first?

eight1echo reacted to shawnayala90 in PO NOW: CLOAKROOM - FURTHER OUT
Was able to catch a little video of their first set on Saturday.
Absolutely flooring, I especially love what they did with the arrangement on Deep Sea Station. The Townes Van Zandt cover unfortunately ended pretty quickly here, but they played it later in the full band set and it went great, Doyle had a rippin solo.
I was fortunate enough to get to talk with Brian and ask him some of the more burning questions I've had about the band over the past couple years. It was very intriguing to learn that the Temple of the Starchild website was not their creation and is a real group. The band are all very amicable dudes, and have a chemistry that feels welcoming and familiar. While getting the special RSD cover was nice, having the opportunity to get to see the band in two different capacities and converse with them was what really mattered.
That being said... they only sold about a handful of the ~42 copies they brought, so I'm sure they will be selling them at their show with Hum next week and on their tour with Nothing in a couple weeks. I implore you all to seek out a way to see this band and talk with them, they are really something special and though I'd seen them once before, watching them play the songs from Further Out really struck a chord and expanded the record for me.
