It looks like a colour pressing of this was released through bigger chain stores like Target and Walmart in November last year. I didn't know I needed this. Now I'm trying to convince myself that I don't need two.

I had the Creep CD single, then bought The Bends, then Pablo Honey. I stopped buying new stuff from OK Computer on, but The Bends has always stayed on high rotation. I loved spinning this last night, and do wonder why I waited so long to give it a go. I think armadillo01 really nailed it with their comment above about an initial perception of bloat and pomposity. Maybe I should revisit Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness next

I heard a few tracks and was really disappointed with their change in direction. I was probably wrong.

I was a massive Bends fan and never really gave this album a shot. The hype around this release has been pretty intense, and seeing the photos of them arriving I finally decided to jump on board. I was actually ready to drop over $100 AUD ppd on a copy off eBay, but called up my local indy store just in case. They had a couple in stock, so I snagged a blue copy for $55 AUD.

I was able to add one to my cart a few hours before they were due to go online. Maybe they sold a bunch then.

I had no idea this was happening til I picked it up in my local store today. This is a really solid album. Side A is all killer.
