  1. Congrats to all who entered and won! But most importantly kudos to Secular Haze for all that he continues to do for this community, completely of his own accord, You are the man.
  2. I found out about it through Discogs, just lazily going through my music and seeing what kind of pressings are available. Some clown was selling this for 300 bucks, then I discovered it was still readily available for less than a tenth of that from the distributor. And this is the kind of pressing I like, album + EP, not much else to collect, because they didn't make much. I think they had a CD after these two, but I haven't heard it and can't accurately say if it's vital.
  3. 1. Nightmare Of You 2. Jane - Berserker Barnes and Noble + Starburst please! When I grow up I wanna be Secular Haze
  4. I dunno, I have Mae - Destination:Beautiful on glow and it doesn't sound bad. I kinda suspect it's mastered from the CD, although I haven't cared enough to do research, but it doesn't seem like it's an effect of the glow necessarily. I That's the only glow one I have so I'm probably very ignorant on the subject
  5. I don't think it works like that. For one thing, when I buy one, that's one a flipper isn't going to get. And for another thing, there's plenty of unneccessary reissues and repressings that sit on the shelf. Look at all those Newbury Comic represses that keep showing up, there's no point to them except woo more colors, nobody has to buy them and most don't because they're stupid expensive. This, however - this is a holy grail to a lot of collectors, which is shaping up to be a high quality no-regrets release. It's slightly more expensive, but how cheap can you make 180 Gram Colored Double LP Gatefolds? Come on, man. If it were up to you, there wouldn't be limited records at all, and everything would be available all the time in plan black non-gatefolds so as not to drive up the price and encourage flippers. Some people might consider that heaven, but it kinda kills some aspects of the hobby that make it rewarding and personally gratifying. That would be the end of crate hunting.
  6. I'd buy this if it doesn't end up being stupid expensive, a little blast to the past for me. But if they pressed S/T, I'd be obsessing over this topic for weeks until it went up, no matter what price.
  7. When is delivery expected, anyone know? Didn't see it on the site.
  8. I'm kind of tempted, I've always wanted this record, but I wish people wouldn't bundle all this stuff together. I wish I could get the box set minus all the superfluous doodads, like pins and remade tour passes that do nothing and other knick knacks. If I could just buy the record in the special box with the print, I'd be all over that in a heartbeat, but this useless stuff is jacking up the price. Even the plain LP HAS to have a CD attached to it? Why? I don't want it.
  9. Seconding this. I don't think I'll ever be interested in lullabies on vinyl, but I have an indescribable urge to help all music-related kickstarters.
  10. Anyone grab an extra of this? I held off on this like a fool and now that I know I love the album, it's sold out.
  11. It's been a few years since I've been there so I can't recall the names, but there's great sushi throughout the Bay, it's worth it to explore. As for the beer, Lucky 13 had a great selection of all sorts of beers on tap from what I remember, Racer 5, Dogfish Head 90 Minute, Pliny The Elder, all sorts of Lagunitas. There seems to be a lot of great microbreweries in CA.
  12. Mission has its broken down parts and its nice parts but there's plenty to see, over by 24th and Mission it get's a little nicer. Right next to it up the hill is Noe Valley which is pretty as hell but it's more a 'family' type of neighborhood. North Beach is touristy but has a ton of great bars and places to eat, Rogue Brewery is right there too. It's also right next to the strip bars if you're into that. Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39 have a lot of little shops but's not really that exciting. The area on Market right next to Castro seemed to have the coolest shit, and my favorite bar Lucky 13 is there as well. Sunset is pleasant but mostly residential, although there's a few good sushi places. Don't bother with Ingleside or anywhere up there by the college, it's the least exciting part of the city, nothin to do. Unfortunately when I was living there I wasn't collecting records, so besides Amoeba and Rasputin I can't recommend any good record shops.
  13. I must not be a worldly person, or I've just been incredibly lucky. I've never really had to deal with these shit horrors. Only one time at work was there a shit mishap - we had some mentally unstable customers led by a caretaker, I guess this was their free time. Well, one of them used the bathroom and decided to smear shit on the walls. I wasn't there that day so I was lucky to have not been the one to clean it up. These people had an excuse, though, I never realized what a problem it is for people with no excuse like that.
  14. God forbid I point out a mildly entertaining mistake. The phrase was funny to me. Unbunch your panties.
  15. Finally got my clear. Sounds pretty damn good, although Side B kicks Side A's ass. Since it isn't shrinkwrapped they shipped with the record outside of the jacket, which I appreciate.
  16. I guess I've been lucky to work in a loose environment where most people wouldn't mind if I were familiar with them - if you come up with a complaint or something serious, my demeanor changes pretty quickly. I'd like to think I can refer to you as 'boss' and still be polite, but I guess it depends on the situation and where you are. That doesn't negate my right to call them terrible. I say that knowing it's an opinion you can ignore.
  17. I work in independent customer service and I use 'boss', 'brother', 'man', 'dude' all the time. Breaks the monotony and I'd like to think it makes me seem friendlier than if I woodenly called everyone 'sir'. If I'm just handing you your coffee, there's no way I'd know or care if you grew up in a military family, I'm just trying to be nice. Every female is 'miss', though. I know that much.
  18. In on it. Gave em 33 bucks for the record + t-shirt, thought the girlfriend might like it if I don't. Hope this goes through.
