I got a Mono Pet Sounds 1st Press at a junk store in a defunct Outlet Mall. The store was called Treasure Hunt. The LP was VG+++ and $7 USD.
I felt like I stole that record when the teenage cashier bagged it up. I looked around like I was about to be Punk'd, but I made a beeline straight to my car like I just shoplifted it.
 
I spent $10 with a guy from a Craistlist ad and got 40 records for $0.25 USD each.  All US first presses. The haul included:
Beatles - '65, Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt Peppers (w/all inserts), White Album (w/All Inserts)
Billy Joel - about 10 1st press albums including the Stranger (my fave).
Several Stones albums
Assortment of other stuff.
 
I also have a friend that works at a music archive. They only have enough archive room to keep triplicates at most, so a couple times a year they have a (not-open-to-the-general-public) record sale. Any record is $1. I have spent a few hundred $$$$ over the years to get all sorts of goodies. $1 for All Things Must Pass (including poster). $1 for Eric Clapton Crossroads box set. All kinds of amazing things. I can usually sell one or two records each time to make up for my purchase costs.
 
I love collecting records.

I think they are pressing more copies so I'd say legit.  

Yes they've said some will make it to the store.

I THINK I saw one of their staff saying that some would probably be in the store but not for a couple months yet.  I just read it in passing so I could be wrong.  Keep in mind with 3 months you get unlimited swaps so if you see stuff in the back catalog you like there's always that as a backup.

I say this as a biased VMP subscriber, but I actually find their exclusives to me quite the opposite of Newbury.  A lot of them are great new releases and it seems to me like they put a lot of time into selecting them.  And their pricing is usually in line with, maybe a couple bucks more, than you can find the standard releases for.  Newbury seems to re-press albums that are readily available for cheap and really jacks up the price.  

Don't forget about the new single that dropped as well.  Not as good as Nuclear Fusion, IMO, but better than Rattlesnake.

IMO, miles better than Rattlesnake. It almost seems like Nuclear Fusion should segue into Rattlesnake. Really excited for this album and TOUR!

DD codes always expire at noon central. But keep trying. Sometimes if you have the coupon applied to your cart when it expires, it will still let you check out with it later. I've had that happen a couple times.

They stated during the release that the picture discs won't ship until June. Pumped for the NYC show. I bought my tickets before they even announced the album. Couldn't ask for a better opener too, King Gizzard AND The Murlocs. Been dying to see The Murlocs for about 2 years, I didn't know if I would get to see them. 

Permanent Records in Los Angeles threw a listening party for the new LP last night and they had a bunch of King Gizzard merch (shirts, posters, tapes, slipmats) courtesy of ATO to give away. They also raffled off a test pressing of the new album and I won! Now comes the near impossible task of tracking down each member before/after the LA show to have them sign the jacket.

ebay should bring back the ability to post negative feedback for buyers. Not being able to is so fucking stupid. I have never had as many problems with buyers until they changed the feedback process. Now I've had all kinds of scammers and liars. And there is nothing a seller can do about it.

Well, more power to them, I suppose.

If I remember correctly, my Raconteurs: Live at the Ryman, one disc is tobacco(?) colored and looks nearly black except when held up to the light.
