Don't Panic has been on my to-watch list for a bit as well.  Your description of it kind of makes me want to watch it sooner.!

Body Bags is a bit of a hidden gem.  Seems like a lot of people who like Carpenter and Hooper miss that one.

Another great episode of Creepshow this week!

Continuing my love of 80's horror and anthology movies,  I also watched:

Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker: Ok but pretty forgettable in the kills department, pretty messed up in the story department.

Don't Panic: I don't remember how I managed to pick out this movie. It was bad. Like, really bad but not quite "so bad it's good" territory.  I can't figure out if parts of it were intentionally funny or what exactly they were going for. So many goofy montages, the love interest's unibrow, the main character running around in dinosaur jammies, the bad dubbing, and the lamest sex scene I have ever seen in a horror movie. Post-pandemic this is may be the kind of movie that you want to get really drunk and watch with friends and have a laugh. That's the kindest thing I can say about Don't Panic.

Body Bags: Loved it. Nice three story anthology with John Carpenter as the "host". So many cameos in this. Perfect palate cleanser after the other two movies.

The vaccination roll out in Canada is a fucking embarrassment and I am so frustrated with how things are unfolding here. I keep rolling back and forth between apathy and rage.

Toronto has been in lockdown since November,  in some form or another.  We are heading into a steep third wave and the flip flopping on what's open is driving me nuts. Schools are closed again however my kids have already been home for almost two weeks after a positive case in one of their classrooms. We've all been tested and are all negative.

I understand the need to keep schools closed to control community spread and protect teachers. I get it. And I say that as someone who is trying to work from home with two crazy young kids running around. I am just frustrated at how haphazardly it's being done. Our lives can't change on a daily basis with the flip of a switch. The shut down notice came 1 day after we were told how amazingly safe the school system is. I should be used to politicians lying and bending the truth but it's still disappointing when it becomes crystal clear that they just don't give a shit about regular citizens.

On the plus side, my elderly grandmother and my brother (front line worker)  have finally got their shots. My parents are eligible to make their appointments as of today.

I am very jealous of the US doing 4M+ vaccinations a day. At least going back to being jealous of the US brings back some familiarity and normality. Congrats on finding your way out of this one guys.

I do like anthologies and I watched this one yesterday. Really liked the third story about the guy with the sick wife - that elevator scene was awesome! Also really enjoyed the twist in the final story and closing scene.  Good recommendation!

If you like anthologies, I'd recommend The Mortuary Collection.  It's probably the best one from 2020.  It's on Shudder.

The final shot in Sleepaway Camp is unforgettable!  If you've got a fondness for bad slasher sequels, Sleepaway Camp 2 is a pretty fun watch as well.  I want to say 3 is entertaining too, but I don't remember for sure.

Haven't had much time or energy to watch many movies while my kids' school was on extended closure due to Covid but now they're out of the house during the weekdays again. In the last couple of months I watched...

Crystal Lake Memories. Took me a few days to get through this beast of a documentary but I loved it. I am a big fan of the (first six) Friday the 13th movies and really enjoyed this inside look at things.

Sleepaway Camp. Went into this expecting an F13 ripoff, unaware of the "notorious" ending. Pretty ho-hum up to those last few minutes which I don't think I can ever un-see.

The Burning. Another F13 ripoff but more entertaining than Sleepaway Camp. Not overly noteworthy other than it features a young Jason Alexander. Fun but kind of unremarkable. Scratched the itch of wanting to watch a made in the 80's F13 clone.

Nightmare Cinema. An anthology movie where each character finds themselves inside a short horror movie after entering a theatre.  A little uneven and Mickey Rourke was super weird as the projectionist but it was good and I'd watch it again. My favourite short was the one with Elizabeth Reaser from Haunting of Hill House.

Super Dark Times. Teen movie where one kid dies accidentally and the paranoia within the group of survivors causes havoc. Well done but more suspenseful than horror.

Summer of 84. Another teen movie with a mystery suspect. I kept thinking "No, it can't be. That's too obvious" but I was right. I found I was waiting for a twist that never showed up. The ending was good however. I would recommend this one.

Lately I've been working through some of the Last Drive-In stuff on Shudder and loving it.

I would think so!  Between Shudder originals and the other library content, I'm sure you can find enough to watch to make it worth your while.  Looks like Revenge is on there and that alone is probably worth $2.99!

I watched Prom Night 2 yesterday and really enjoyed it. Checked a lot of boxes for a classic 80s teen horror movie and was more fun than the original.

Also I recently watched The Witch and Hereditary. Both were excellent.

The attention to detail really drew me into The Witch. Everything to make it so authentic to the time period made it more immersive when spooky things happened.

I watched Us last night and really enjoyed it.

I don't think I even breathed during the scenes where the doubles first show up, get into the house and Red "introduces" them. So tense. So well done.

Otherwise my last couple weeks of movie watching has been a little all over the place. I have watched Friday the 13th 1-8, Body Count (1986), Prom Night (1980 and 2008), Waxwork, House, Amityville Horror (1979 and 2005) and I'm sure there are others I am forgetting

I've finally acquired my white whale: a Jurassic Park test pressing.
This rush of joy was immediately cut down by my wife and daughter as they rolled their eyes at this wonderful news.

Where do I go from here? Quit the game? I suppose that'd be going out on top. But this is a mental disorder, not a hobby. This is a support group, not a message board. And the unique thing is that it's a support group where people sitting around the same circle are willing to tell you point-blank that you f/cking suck.

Here's my TP tally. Anyone come across a Blair Witch yet? I suppose Halloween would be my next most-wanted but I, like with JP, won't hold my breath.
Army of Darkness Back To The Future II (picture disc, scrapped pressing) Black Swan Case Of The Scorpion’s Tail Drive (Lakeshore) Drive (picture disc) Guardians of the Galaxy Hannibal Jurassic Park Jurassic World Maniac (2013) Rewind This! Timecrimes Turbo Kid
