  1. this was the only thing I *really* wanted. I went to 3 stores yesterday. the first store sold the 2 copies they had within the first 30 minutes. the second store didn't bother to put most of what they got out... (wonder where that stuff is *coughEBAYcough* third store told me they didn't get the final shipment of stuff and the set *might* be in that batch, but they didn't know what they'd do once that shipment showed up... they might do an additional 'RSD' next week, put the stuff out during this week, or send it back to the distro...
  2. If anybody has a lead on the REM Unplugged set, I'd super-appreciate it!!
  3. I'd go with 23 for a few reasons, but when I'm in Vegas, my inner Star Wars fan demands $10 on Red 5. Sadly, this has yet to work... someday, SOMEDAY!!!
  4. Seriously, if you don't have this record, grab it. it's so good and will be your summertime jam this year!
  5. I haven't received mine yet, but when I inquired directly with U-Turn, their advice/preference the Grado Black 1. I've been debating on the cue lever vs the Q-Up, and I've been leaning towards the Q-up for the simple fact that I have a short-attention span and forget that an album is about to come to an end.
  6. got mine yesterday. haven't had a chance to spin it yet. super stoked to spend some time with it today, though
  7. I have been very cautious to not let my Pop collection get out of hand... Sticking with a very small collection this has been my go to for exclusives and generally awesome selection. shipping is a bit stiff, but the prices on the figures is fair... http://www.geminicollectibles.net/
  8. That's pretty much where I'm at. didn't know if it would be worth it to spend up front and go with the Grado Black1 or stick with the AT95E. I suppose if I'm spending this much, what's an extra $20 for the Grado... right?
  9. Looking at biting the bullet and placing an order for a U-Turn. I'm long overdue for an upgrade over my current turntable. opinions on the cartridge options? I've read reviews on Amazon for each, and they didn't really sway me in any particular direction.
  10. I'm not super versed on the shoegaze scene, but have enjoyed Ulrich Scnauss' material. https://www.facebook.com/ulrichschnauss
  11. If I could offer you, or anyone that's interested any advice, the best thing to do is get in at a venue or with a production company.A lot of bands are slimming down their crews to cut costs due to the incline in touring costs. I was going to so many shows in my younger days that I got to know the venue staff, one night the head of security told me he was short-staffed and asked if I wanted to make a little money, I obliged, after the show he asked if I wanted to help out at upcoming show. I said sure. I did that for a year or so and, eventually, jumped on stage and learned the ropes of being a stagehand... at that point, I started to meet a lot of people, it's a tight-knit community and you see a lot of the same faces fairly regulary. If you're good, bands and/or crews remember you (they also remember you if you totally suck at the job) At one point, a touring crew I had worked with multiple times asked if I'd be interested in coming out on the road with 'em, I said sure, gave them my number... they called randomly many months later. I went out with that particular artist for a couple months and thought I was going to go home after the tour, they kept me around, sent me with a label-mate, and I bounced around with that camp for about two years... I decided my time with them was up, came home, went back to the local circuit, ran into another guy I worked with he mentioned his employer would have a need, I was out with that band for about 3 years... I had a string of good luck when this band was done, that band would take me... in the end, it's all about networking. I did bus tours, as well as van tours. being in my mid-thirties, I doubt I have it in me to do a van tour these days or as ronniegwilliams pointed out, sleeping on floors on the regular. If you don't take care of yourself, you can get real unhealthy real quick.
  12. it was rough balancing tour and life. thankfully, I met a very supportive woman at home who stood by me living the dream.. I was on the road for the better part of our first 4 years together. we ended up getting married a couple years ago when I shifted focus to new paths. getting paid to see rock shows... there wasn't much better than that!
  13. I was on the road for about 12 years with various bands... did merch, stage manager, backline tech, and/or tour managing. more or less fell out of the touring game when a steady gig opened up for me at a venue in town. Sadly, said steady position only lasted a year when the owners decided to close shop... currently an event coordinator/production manager for a non-profit... I toy with seeing what's out there in the touring world, but I'm not sure my body would enjoy that life these days. with that said, it was the best 'job' I ever had, and I wouldn't trade those memories and experiences for anything...
  14. Pre-order bundles went live... http://store.sideonedummy.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?limit=30&q=till+midnight

  16. Grabbed one of the Lawrence Arms - Metropole, the other was already used. Both Yalta's seem to have been used, already. Thanks!!
  17. Recently bought a PS3, been bouncing between WWE 2K14 and Lego Marvel. I have high hopes for the return of RBI Baseball! http://rbigame.mlb.com/rbigame/home.jsp
  18. me and my wife have a joint account that part of each paycheck gets deposited into it. we use that for monthly bills, groceries, etc... the rest goes into personal accounts. it saves from either of us feeling like the other is judging when we buy something silly or something the other isn't interested in...
  19. Time Warner is run by the devil himself. A few years ago when me and my wife moved into a rental property, they refused to transfer our service from our old address to the new one 'because the PREVIOUS tenants didn't pay their bill' I'm usually understanding of things like that, but we had 3 years at our prior address to back up we were good customers. They also forced us into an 'installation fee' when all that needed to be done was take the modem from the old apartment to the new house (which I did). We moved again last month and the customer service has completely 180'd one of the most pleasant calls I've ever had with them. With all that said, Google Fiber moves into our area in October. I'm still pissed from the incident from the last place and will be cutting Time Warner as quickly as possible.
  20. Mine showed up in Kansas City on Saturday.
  21. I have 2 of those used them for years. they're cheap but do the job. Over time, the shelves will start to bend due to the weight, I flip them upside down every so often. the other nice thing is that it's footprint isn't that big so they aren't that obtrusive. I'm in need of a third one. if you want them to match, buy a couple at the same time. It seems each time I buy one, I have to get a different finish because they've discontinued the prior.
  22. Not sure if this has been mentioned or not... didn't turn anything up on the search function... For anyone interested, The Architects (some might remember them as the Gadjits) are down to the last week of an indiegogo campaign for their new album/comic book series. it's going to be a series of releases, they are only asking for help on the first one, then will re-invest for future releases... a few really rad perks to be had... check it out! http://igg.me/p/337090/x/3128985
  23. I've been steadily dropping 15-20 in each town daily since most of the people I'm 'friends' with are from the board... if anyone wants to spread some love in mine, it'd be appreciated... screen name: kcblackrob
  24. didn't have anything super special... (what I remember off the top of my head) for vinyl, they had Covering Ground Picture disc los feliz Gold Country Revival Tour 2012 comp (Dan from alk3, Chuck, Brian Fallon, etc) Dave Hause 7" series (didn't notice if they were tour presses or not) Jon Gaunt 7" (not sure which one) and a CD for 2013 Comp
