I'm not a fan of becoming involved in discussions like these - but the culture of immediately dogpiling on someone after they say something insensitive is a little annoying.

Often people like Mike have very different intentions than what their text may convey to other people. I don't condone any of the deplorable misogynistic remarks many people make, and I'm not jumping to defend Kinsella, but everyone really needs to step back and take a look at how everyone, especially the person who made the mistake, is reacting.

Considering how soon Mike retracted the tweet and made ground to apologise, I don't think his intentions were anywhere near as dastardly as some might make them out to be. Twitter is harsh and the world of immediate black-and-white "you're either perfect or you're terrible" is an awful mindset to have. I am in no way trying to defend the actual, real, disturbing culture of misogyny - correcting him is a logical, good, reasonable step to do - I'm just asking people to not immediately go "well, he's terrible, I hate him now" off of one instance that very likely may have been a slipup in speech.

There's a very good TED talk about this. I would recommend watching. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAIP6fI0NAI

tl;dr: what he said was wrong, it was a bit shocking; but intentions are never clear especially on the internet: considering his reaction towards his fans, and his response to the situation, I would sit back and try not to immediately assume the worst of him. Correct the statement, explain why it was wrong, but don't demonise him off of one thing - we're all human beings.

Important bump.  After revisiting this record today, I'm both pleased and disgusted that even after half a year, I can't hear Phantom Bride without picturing that fucking goober vape his heart out on Instagram.  Sometimes I hate this board.

Deluxe copies at my local have the 12" and LP in a single shrink wrap, with an extra bar code sticker on it. Doesn't make any difference once you opened it, though.

Another vote for Home Away From Here. I hadn't heard a single song by them before seeing them support Converge while touring Parting The Sea. Went home with the LP and spent the rest of the night listening to it over and over again. Is Survived By was a minor letdown, for me, and, apart from Science-Fiction, didn't have a lasting impact. So my expectations weren't particularly high for Stage Four, but after about ten listens in, I'm content to say they're back on track. Flowers and You and Skyscraper are among their finest songs, ever. Benediction's making me itchy in all the wrong places, so far, but it's not a bad song, I guess I need a little more getting used to it.

Talking about Keep You vs. Stage Four, to me that comparison is flawed. Keep You is, next to among the most gut-wrenchingly heartbreaking albums I heard, far removed from the anger and despair of Stage Four. All of PBTT's albums are working on the topic of losing a parent, but The Lack Long After would be the obvious counterpart of where TA are right now, to me.

I went with the EU clear/red haze and it turned out nicely. I was concerned about it being unenjoyable, as haze-variants are known to be sometimes, but everything is fine. A nice, quiet, clean and good looking copy of a really, really good album.

Today is the 7th anniversary of my mom passing away from lung cancer. I made the three hour drive this morning and visited her grave for the first time. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, and this album has helped me feel a little better on the ride home. I am so thankful for this album.

Photos of the blood red were posted to a group I'm in on FB.
Steve Von Till replied to the post with the following:
"Hey. It will be shipping very soon. They literally just arrived. We stated November originally due to the unpredictable nature of pressing vinyl these days. Plants are always backed up and delays are common. We jumped a couple spots in line, our U.S. Plant RTI kicked ass and they will be in your hands and on your turntables before you know it."

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but what the fuck. You're like that one dude on earth who didn't enjoy Uncharted 4. You're the first person I've seen that didn't enjoy this show. It doesn't have anything to do with 'hip', 'scene' (what?) or indie, or anything else like that (I'm not even going to touch on that - cause that was just stupid, dude)*. The show had fantastic writing, original plot, was a nod to so many great shows / movies of our childhood, had a fantastic score (god damn did it enrich what was going on, and help drive the story so fucking well, along with being such 80s goodness), amazing DP (director of photography) - seriously, that show had some absolutely beautiful shots, and the acting was great - not even considering most of the actors were children. I don't think we really needed to get super invested into the kid that was kidnapped by knowing him personally. We all got invested cause we were kids, we had our childhood friends. We related and rallied for them to find their buddy cause he was like our buddy. We were part of the gang watching the show. It's awesome how connected we were so early on with barely any backstory, and I think that's really cool. For me I'm glad we didn't get hit with all this trivial backstory about him, and just managed to get sucked right in. Honestly I didn't think about the kid personally, but more so 'we gotta find him!' through out the show, along with 'when are we gonna find out about the monster', and 'damn, Winona looks great even as the run down 80s mom'. The show was just so compelling, plot driven, and dynamic. It's unique, and that's what media is lacking these days. I honestly don't see how anyone could not be into this show.

    * I lied, I will touch on that. This show didn't have a specific target demographic of hipsters, and indie kids. Especially not scene kids. Scene kids? What the fuck. Is that even a logical demographic? What year is this. This isn't a fucking Hot Topic produced A Day To Remember doc. from 2008. This was a throwback / tribute to sci fi, supernatural fiction, horror, and drama classics. This show resurrected the 80s (a decade that most indie kids / hipsters / scene kids barely even lived during, if at all). This show was Dungoens & Dragons, Alien, Hardy Boys, The Dark Crystal, John Carpenter, eggos, E.T., ham radios, awful 80s clothes, Winona Ryder, Steven Speilberg, Stephen King, The Thing, Star Wars, all 80s cop movies, Close Encounters, Stand By Me, Poltergeist, The Goonies, David Cronenberg, and even some earlier stuff like Under The Skin. Dismissing this show is pretty much like dismissing an entire decade. This show is so widely diverse that its demographic is people with a pulse who like tv. My dad is almost 70 and he loved it (and he wasn't really into the sci fi stuff of the 80s). This show doesn't have any prerequisites other than not being a closed-minded asshole (no offense). I just don't see how anyone couldn't like this show, I really don't. I very much look forward to season 2.

I really hope you sit down and give this show another shot, man. You're missing out on something really great. It sounds like you barely gave it a chance, and I hope you give it another. And that's coming from someone who has no interest in buying the score on vinyl, but I still give this show 5/5 eggos.

If I'm following your post correctly, you're criticizing me for not using this thread to discuss other, relevant bands who have their own respective threads?  Am I close or at least in the same ballpark?  Because that's silly.

And I'm still working on my ideal tattoo design, thanks.  It's near completion but I'm struggling to artistically wrap these Hawthorne Heights lyrics around the Atreyu design without it distracting too much from my Yellowcard references.
