bitworm reacted to just a normal guy kevin in VNYL
You guys haven't learned yet. It is zero surprise that they'd pour time and effort into the box that the records ship in. I imagine they got samples of 10-15 different mailers from a packaging company and picked an expensive one that looks really cool and professional. I also bet that the print quality of the #vibe stickers are up there.
Literally everything EXCEPT the records themselves has been meticulously put together with a ton of thought. That's why it's frustrating. Because it's a symptom of a much larger problem of companies spending money and effort to build the illusion of a product, and it's accompanying lifestyle and brand, rather than delivering an actual solid product- and the fact that some people are actually OK with crap if the surrounding illusion is cool, trendy, and cute.

Built this 7"/Cat storage a few weeks ago - wanted to try a smaller one before I dove into making the full-size one.
really happy with how it turned out and managed to sneak a storage drawer into it.

My Dr Dog LP arrived today with a HORRENDOUS corner ding. This incredible damage makes the album unloookable, which makes the experience ruined and the music unlistenable. So, I'm returning it for a double refund (that's when you get a refund and a replacement copy).

Buys one record with the advertised discount:
Talks about all the additional records he's going to buy since the coupon is mistakenly allowing multiple discounts to be applied:
Confirms buying multiple records at a discount because of company's mistake:
Coupon code get pulled when company realizes mistake and goes off the handle complaining that they won't let him further exploit the mistake by claiming that they are not standing by their statements:
Get's asked what he would do if they reversed the mistake and honored the coupon the way it was intended and ignores the question:
Calms down and accepts it:
I'd say this about sums up the situation.

No, it IS bad business.
As a corporation, they need to stand behind their coupons/statements. If someone screwed up, so be it. But this is just pissing people off. It's like walking a kid through an arcade with no quarters.
Maybe just fix the error so only 1 LP is discounted, but don't cancel the sale. That is BAD business. I, for one, will think twice before ordering again after they pulled this shit. How can you take them on their word ever again?

I'm willing to bet this is exactly what happened. The coupon should have taken 30% off of one item, but it obviously wasn't set up properly on their end. So, this thread blows up and in less than two days, they have a huge amount of orders pouring in. Someone notices it, realizes what has happened, realizes the amount of potential profit they are loosing isn't outweighed by the amount of product they are moving and puts a stop on the discount. Knowing that cancelling all the orders that have been generated because of their mistake will only piss off the new/repeat customers, they fill the orders, take the hit and move on.
It's not bad business, since they are following through on their mistake, it's just a logical move on their part to stay profitable.

I never did post a photo of my record room after selling my old shelves (that everyone here loved but sadly they outlived their usefulness due to space constraints and the fact that my fiance demanded that i keep the vault contained to one room). Here's the new room as of a week or so ago. I redid the room last spring, my lady liked the expedits in white so we went out and grabbed enough to fill the room.
At some point that 2x4 is going to be replaced by a 4x4 when I run out of room in the existing shelves. I don't give a shit about that window being blocked as I have never opened it. The current total count of records is a little shy of 10,000. I think I will have a party to celebrate when I hit the 10k mark.
Most of the old shelves are still in service over at Logan Hardware in Chicago. I kept a couple of them up in my office for the mailorder stuff.
