Sorry sir for all the frustration this thread has caused. I have taken the time to do some solid calculations, and used your helpful graph as well:
After intense pondering I have come to the conclusion that a stack of 50 records is the same width as a single record. Proof:
I am sorry the rest of the board wasn't as willing to help. I hope you find this information useful.

emacs reacted to radiatorhums in New Market Place : Buy/Sell/Swap everything related to Music
I still need convincing as to why I should use this instead of eBay or discogs. It's missing the nice categorization that discogs has, so it's not comparable there. From what it looks like to me, it's just a more specific eBay (or just the music section of eBay). I get that there's no fees, which is nice, but most likely not sustainable. Besides that, I'm not sure why this stands apart. If this was being launched 20 years ago it might be interesting and worthwhile, now it's just unnecessary. I'm all for people trying to create a new marketplace, but there has to be a reason why it exists out and should be used. DuckDuckGo is a good example of that. They created a search engine with some features that Google isn't offering and they're getting decent traffic. If this marketplace wants to be used, it needs to offer something other sites cannot.
VC will shit on a product that isn't useful or necessary. There's a thread for an Android app front-end for discogs that's had plenty of nice things said in it, but that's also something there appears to be a demand for.
Regarding those last comments : I do not care about Brand New. I know how to write code. I still thing this is unnecessary.

Anyone else hear about what went down with Tom Alderson (Crosscheck, Drown), Ian Adams (Heavy Chains), Karebear (Suburban Scum?
https://twitter.com/jordanxmckinney/status/627561952810635264
I had a hard time reading through that. No one in the world deserves that. Absolutely fucking horrid.
Heavy Chains is off the Life and Death tour and Suburban Scum is no longer playing the Back To School Jam, but that isn't enough. Tom deserves justice. Fuck both of those bands and fuck you if you continue to support them. Here's to hoping Tom makes a full and speedy recovery.

Those of you who think that stricter guns laws are not the answer: What do we do then? We are the only country that has this problem. Australia has incredibly strict gun laws and they don't have issues with gun violence like we do. How do we make our country safer?
This is a serious question, btw. I am not a gun person. Never held a gun in my life and I get anxious just thinking about shooting one or being around one when it is fired. I would like to know what other options we have since I am not well versed in the whole subculture.
Also, saying "fuck this guy" about Bernie bc of one misconstrued article about his stance on guns is pretty ignorant. You're gonna toss away all his totally logical beliefs bc of 1 article claiming he wants to ban all guns ever made? Cmon, now.

Like I've said before and you can probably gather from pretty much any of my posts, I'm extremely liberal. I think we need STRICT gun control and I believe there is no reason to ever own an assault weapon.
While I think in a lot of cases guns ARE just dangerous toys, I do believe there are legitimate reasons to own them. I think trophy hunting is abhorrent and that dentist who killed a lion deserves all the public shaming he's gotten and then some more. BUT things like deer hunting are actually a population control necessity. I'm also mostly vegetarian and haven't eaten red meat in over two decades but have no problem with someone killing and eating a deer. It's one of the few cases I'm ok with that kind of thing. The meat industry is horrific and disgusting. But without hunting the deer population can go crazy and be harmful to humans AND the deer themselves.
It should be way more difficult to obtain or posess a firearm though.
