SNEAKORDS got a reaction from whoa in 45 Record Player?
he prob means one of these:
my family had a couple turntables that did that growing up. no idea if there's a company that still makes them that isn't crosley or similar, I'm pretty sure that it's really bad for the records (dropping them, changing the angle of the needle as the height increases, etc.)

SNEAKORDS got a reaction from axotyl in PO SOON: BLVCK CEILING - TEENWVFF
weird, my copy of TEENWVFF arrived today, no warning that it shipped. arrived in perfect condition though (but I haven't had a chance to spin it yet). the 48hr version didn't turn out quite as cool as I hoped but whatever. it's a bit hard to photograph:
backlit and a bit oversaturated:
more realistic:

mine showed up in BC today too. no movement on the tracking number since the 7th.
I'm almost tempted to take the belly band over to my buddy's studio to see what's on it (if anything actually survived).

nah, still waiting in BC. the tracking system for the order is garbage.

SNEAKORDS got a reaction from hammertime in PO SOON: BLVCK CEILING - TEENWVFF
Up now, grabbed the timed edition... $50 CAD after shipping though, goddamn (if they honour the shipping price, there was no option to choose your location before checkout so it just applied what I assume is the Euro shipping price).

SNEAKORDS got a reaction from vinyl addict in 2016 Vinyl Predictions
VNYL becomes the largest vinyl retailer as the market declines and tapes take over as the new trend. Tape racks reappear in gas stations and look exactly the same as they did in 1993.

It just so happens that my euro 180g pink copy arrived today as well, so I compared it to the pale violet deluxe I picked up at the show. All around, I'd say that the violet press is the overall winner.
The pink is pretty washed out and plain looking, as everyone else has stated. It arrived in fairly good shape for a record shipped from Europe to Vancouver, no bends or creases though there is a bit of a seam split on the gatefold and the inner sleeves, and the cardstock is pretty flimsy, the edges have a couple small dents. The records themselves are fine. It's nice that it came in a resealable poly sleeve, though lighter than I usually use, and the inner sleeves have an antistatic lining, which the deluxe didn't. I did get the poster with the pink, didn't get one with the deluxe. The cover is just so flat and plain side by side with the deluxe, the heavy gatefold, the embossing and reflective ink just makes it pop in comparison. Aesthetically, everything about the deluxe violet, the artwork, the materials, the vinyl colour way, is superior.
I spun Gifts for the Earth from both, and while there wasn't a huge difference, the violet copy wins again. I don't have the best system (U-Turn Orbit Plus > Radial J33 Turntable preamp/DI > Apogee Duet2 > M-Audio BX5a monitors & KRK 10s sub), but the pink seems to have a bit of harshness and sibilance that wasn't on the violet, and there was definitely surface noise and a persistent tick in the outro that I couldn't see a cause for. I'll have to give both copies a proper wash later, but none of that was present on the deluxe copy. In loud sections both copies sounded very good, but the violet was better.

SNEAKORDS got a reaction from Duff in Bleed American single LP press in August?
I'll be all over this if it is sold anywhere else. motherfuckers won't ship to Canada and won't ship to my PO box in Washington with my billing address being in Canada. Bleed American is really their only album of theirs I love and I've been wanting a copy for a while, just not something with six sides.
