  1. Hey cameron; you're no doubt reading this. So congrats on the big score. Nothing rings in the Thanksgiving spirit like instant record flipping. But you should spend less time record hounding, and more time with your loved ones. And also a bit more time blowing me. Gobble gobble, motherfucker.
  2. I'm just glad that the Cursed remaster isn't a part of this chaos.
  3. Everyone: stay up and F5 their webstore at ridiculous hours of the night... so you can exhaust yourself and sleep straight through the reasonable time-frame that they'll have vinyl for sale, tomorrow.
  4. Fear not; some people will buy at least 10 copies while being completely sober.
  5. Congrats to lupe. Really cool variety of albums to award on this raffle.
  6. So just to recap; SRC are putting up a few clear copies tomorrow, for Black Friday?
  7. The store does indeed look super clean. I like that aspect. Reading the press descriptions gives me a headache, though. I miss the line by line format. i.e.; First Press /1,034 111 Clear with Black Smoke 219 Green 294 Blue 408 Coke Bottle Clear 20 test presses (approved) 20 test presses (rejected) Looks so much nicer to me, personally. Also, the bars that indicated the amount of any one variant in stock. Bring those back. Those were signature Topshelf goodness. It was always convenient to see the availability of any given variant.
  8. To have the signatures of a band they didn't see in person. Obv.
  9. I loved their initial Facebook post. VERY LIMITED EDITION vinyl represses for you ...when they actually just meant that the copies on their site were very limited. Womp womp.
  10. I don't know if you're picky enough to care, but I just wanted to mention that this was released last year.
  11. That's half the battle, too; shipping a single LP from EVR has never cost $6.00+, from what I recall.
  12. Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that Circa Survive - as a band - were responsible for setting the price on these. But if they aren't, who is? Equal Vision? They handled the initial presses of Juturna and OLG, correct? And unless I'm missing something, it was nearly half the total cost to order from them back in... 2007? 2008? And I think we can rule out "rising costs in vinyl and vinyl production" as a factor that'd inflate the total costs by nearly 100%, don't you think? So I apologize on behalf of my previous phrasing; I don't mean to point my finger at the band. But whether it was the band, your label, or your mom; the fact is that someone decided $34 was an acceptable price to set these records at. And at the end of the day, that's fucked any way you look at it. Just my $0.02. I enjoy owning a limited piece of wax just as much as the next guy, but there are boundaries.
  13. That's the kicker here. A band of Circa's popularity and success has zero reason to press a limited amount of vinyl and ask $30+ PPD for them. Your "supply vs. demand" argument is irrelevant: they're selling the same record that they sold for $15 a few years back. Presumably from the exact same masters. They're not including bonus material. They're not expanding the packaging. They're not using any additional resources. But they're charging [roughly] twice as much. Why? Because they know people will pay it. Like it's been said in this thread - and many more - it all comes down to standing your ground and voting with your dollar. I know I praise Deathwish quite a bit, but honestly; look at the facts. Converge's seminal album Jane Doe used to fetch prices that rival Juturna and OLG. It was out of print for years; when it was repressed, the label included an additional 11" x 11" colored booklet, and still asked standard retail price for it. Could Deathwish have charged $40 a copy, and still had the album sell at tremendous speeds? I have no doubt about it. But they didn't ask $40, because they're not dicks. And we didn't pay $40, because we're not desperate. And regarding that last bold bit. Who am I to bitch? I'm just another music / vinyl nerd on an online community, like yourself. We're all entitled to an opinion here. And mine just so happens to be that Circa dug deep on this one. I don't have a dog in this fight, but I'm still going to have a hearty laugh if Friday rolls around, and EVR is asking < $18 per LP with sane shipping costs. If you disagree with my post or think that $30+ single LPs are justifiable "because they're in demand", that's your problem. I can respect your opinion, but don't beat your chest or question my right to voice my thoughts. Thanks. [edit]
  14. Because at the end of the day, they're single LPs. They cost the same amount to produce and ship as, say, any stellar Topshelf release that retails for $12 + $3.98 shipping. Limited quantities ≠ grounds for price-gouging.
  15. So the cheapest shipping option is almost $7.00 for a single LP. After taxes it's pushing $34 PPD. With that being said, I've weighed the decision carefully... and I've come to the conclusion that whoever priced these LPs and their shipping rates can blow me.
