  1. Yeah, that's how I feel. Far more enjoyable than their last effort, but I'm starting to think they won't be able to top The Money Store anytime soon.
  2. Just finished my first listen. I think it's probably the most engaging TQA release, especially right off the bat on the first play. I'm really digging the balance between crushing passages and blankets of drone. Extremely happy with my purchase at this point; awesome job from you and everyone else involved.
  3. Anyone hear of Message To Bears? Multi-instrumentalist who composes some pretty serene sounds, in my opinion. He just released a new album, and it's a fantastically chilly listen for those of us going into the winter season. Vinyl press will be made available to order in the coming weeks: check it out if you're at all interested. His previous stuff is just as solid, too.
  4. I'd be down for a group buy to reduce shipping costs, if anyone really cares. My black copy sounds fine so I could go either way. Anything over $18 just to upgrade the variant isn't worth it to me, but if two more people want in I'd be willing to ship out a copy for ~$3.00.
  5. I really don't think they'll sell out of the black anytime soon. And like it's been mentioned, they'll be keeping black copies in print for a good long while, too.
  6. So for the fellow OCD / catalog-crazed, in this thread: would you say The Unnatural World is being pressed by ELHR, or The Flenser? I know they're working together to distribute copies, but I'm puzzled as to which of the two can be considered the actual label. I'd guess ELHR.
  7. And in. $27 for 35 minutes of music: this thing better induce no less than three orgasms.
  8. I really can't argue that. And if they fall on the mediocre side, she at least knows how to present them with extra flare.
  9. The wait is almost over. This Saturday (11/16/13) marks the launch of The American Dollar's sophomore[?] album, The Technicolor Sleep. Pirate Ship Records are handling the sale, and there appears to be a palette of tasty (and tastily-named) variants available, including a deluxe wooden boxset. You can ogle all the variants here, where they'll be available for purchase come Saturday. Looks like there's... 45 box sets. 106 Chocolate Vanilla Custard Blend 111 Fudge Brownie 107 Super Lemon Ice w/Licorice* 54 Blue Raspberry Sorbet* 56 Black, 180gram* 3 Test presses (for sale, out of 17 total)* * Denotes a special silkscreen cover; $25 vs. the standard edition which is $20. * Denotes the test press with a unique silkscreen cover; $50.
  10. Eh, I still stand by my initial post -- I think it's rad that you're offering to look into VC orders. I think it'd be cool to hear from a bunch of the board's members while you review the status of their records.
  11. But in all seriousness, I'm glad to hear that nothing (too) extreme went down. I've heard some stories about sketch-parties.
  12. Forgive any ignorance - since I don't know where you fit in, exactly, with Oldies.com - but I think this offer of yours is all kinds of awesome. I'm positive that some people will get their peace of mind by giving you a call. I'd consider it myself if I cared a bit more (and wanted to ruin the element of surprise).
  13. I think I speak for more than just myself when I say that you're gonna' need to be a bit more specific... If it's not too personal.
  14. So what's the probability that these individual presses are legitimately limited to 1,000 each?
  15. Was this the case where the USPS employee (manager?) wanted to meet you for coffee or something, to discuss a means of repaying you? Or am I confusing that with a different sort of craziness that happened with you? I distinctly remember that whole situation being pretty awkward.
  16. Just thought it was a little silly to bump a thread that's nearly two years old to prove a point. I suppose if you had done so right as the other thread surfaced - so it was locked or deleted before actual discussion took place - it'd be a different story. But as it stands I just didn't see the point... especially since we now have identical threads on the first page. But it's whatever. I guess someone could merge them if they really cared. [edit] And for clarification's sake, I thought it'd be easier to voice all of that with a simple vote - that I assumed was anonymous? - so I could back out of the thread and move along... instead of posting and causing a fuss or argument. I try to keep my downvotes to a minimum and reserve them for situations where I bite my tongue and trek onward for the sake of keeping things positive. I hope you didn't take it too personally.
  17. Nice. Do they confirm what is (and what is perhaps not) shipping, in said e-mail? I checked my bank statements and it looks like all three of my Oldies orders were charged for the exact amount of the order, which is probably a good thing. But swisher's post has be a little iffy on what we'll actually be receiving, despite how many affirming e-mails we all receive.
  18. Indeed -- those look sweet. Can't wait to have the [core] BOC discography on my shelf, later this week. I'm still giddy as hell that these got repressed. A lot of times these situations result in anticipation and excitement that fizzles out once the product shows up. But considering that I never once assumed I'd own the BOC catalog on vinyl - and also factoring in just how great these represses turn out - I'm still pleased as punch.
  19. Definitely. I'll probably be glued to the front of the stage (or close to it) as soon as we show up, but I imagine it'll be possible to catch you at some point. Should be pretty cozy, too, considering that the venue is completely sold out. Did they stick to fairly similar setlists for the two shows you've caught so far?
