mondie reacted to piky0032 in PO: The Butterfly Effect - Discography
Same same....if not slightly better?......nothing here is going to blow an audiophile away.....but its a very very decent press......no surface noise that i found and no IGD to note
Super happy with them

Finally found another store that carries the indie exclusive red variant:

Amoeba also ships internationally!
I guess, more will pop up the next days/weeks.

I grew listening to the Human League, but that price is fucking ridiculous. Seriously?

There are some mega expensive copies on Discogs but I reckon your best chance is to setup a Karnivool search on Oz ebay and check it daily (maybe even twice )

wow, hope they go for 45rpm and make the most of the extra space.

I reckon it sold out about the time I bought my bundle this morning. As I was about to complete payment for shipping it to a mate in Oz I thought I would process another order just to find out how much postage would be to the UK only to find there was no ultimate bundle showing. So pumped for this, would have cried if I missed on the signed vinyl!

mondie reacted to Plarocks in John Butler Trio Searching for Heritage vinyl
It is sold out, for right now.
But, the one I got did pop up there on July 28th around 10am-ish, after the first batch was there and was gone following the Midnight announcement.
Might be worth checking back from time to time. Music Today said there were 300 copies imported for sale in the US.

^^ nice second system made up of some of your 'spare' bits This is mine, I mainly play vinyl into active ADAM speakers.

mondie reacted to fish in PO: Dead Can Dance reissues
I know I probably love this band WAY more than most people on here, but DCD are one of my all time favs and I'm excited to see 4ad reissuing all 8 of the albums they put out. Especially for reasonable prices. 3 albums for starters.

I had a quick look at the website and couldn't find yours so that explains it, they do look to display the sort of attention to detail you'd expect from Teutonic engineering. The tweeter design looks very interesting
My experience of active speakers is mostly from the powered BBC Rogers speakers, the and the Boothroyd Stuart and Cambridge domestic units and so far none of the modern active's I've heard quite measure up to the Rogers and I notice now there seems to be a trend in studios to use domestic passive speakers with some studios employing speakers from people like Bowers & Wilkins and Focal, funny how ideas change, we'll be back to NS-10's and LS3/5a's soon

I've not heard any ADAM speakers no and it's not a brand I'm really aware of hence not knowing they weren't ribbons but I've heard enough other Active speakers both good and bad so as my learned colleague says read a little further.
As someone who builds amplifiers in my spare time my preference to external amplification is from an electronic engineering standpoint, that and the amplifiers I generally build contain valves which tend to not like being in closed boxes with magnets
Edit
And now I've got to go and find some ADAM's to listen to, I make a point of listening to as much sound equipment as I possibly can in one lifetime and I can't hold an opinion on something until I've heard it.

Those speakers look like something out of a 1950s sci fi movie. I love it.

Speakers are ADAM Tensor Alpha's, a German made 5 way design. Turntable is German too, a Brinkmann LaGrange.
They are air motion transformers not ribbons. Sounds like you haven't heard a well engineered active system to me.
