Yeah, there is definitely meaning behind their titles, if not solely in an "inside joke" kind of way.  One of the top Youtube comments for the new song is something akin to "the Mogwai Random Song Name Generator strikes again!" but I don't think that's ever been the case.
 
It's actually so good.  I think it's my favorite verse-chorus-verse-chorus song they've done, with vocals.  The way the verses are sung makes me think of CODY and I'm all about that.  Really hits me as a summation of their classic sound merged with the newer direction they've been taking.

So bummed I missed this. I really wanted to pay $25ish for 13 minutes of alternate versions of songs I think are already pretty perfect. I would be even more bummed if I knew that the four songs were spread over both sides of the album. This way I could ensure that I would have to jump back up to flip the record over just as I was able to get comfortable. 2020 strikes again.

How easy would it have been to release White Pony &  Black Stallion on white and black vinyl? Like, I don't know if that would have influenced my decision enough to spend one hundred and fifty fuckin' smackers, but c'mon, this was not thought out well at all.

That super deluxe is not it.

Comparing first listens, I think I like Dry Fantasy  more than the premiere of Coolverine. I love that song now in context of the album, and it gives me chills.
 
I can see them putting some noisier/heavy elements on this too based on the art.
 
I know a lot of people clamor for the delay-heavy crescendo post-rock of their earlier material, but I honestly think Mogwai get better and better with every release. Their album-crafting is top notch. Three years into Every Country's Sun, and I still can't get enough of that record.

Yeah, I honestly think I like this new single more than I liked Coolverine on first listen.  Coolverine was working that "big , spacey crescendo" angle.  Like you said, I think Dry Fantasy is more of a vibe.  Great melody, texture, and pacing without being too synth-heavy.  Really dig it.  I like that it's not the opening track, either – seems like it could nestle itself nice before or after a "banger".  I hope they whip out at least one track on par with Old Poisons on this record – the grit and style of the album art feels like it'd lend itself to some noisier or heavier moments.  That's the knee-jerk impression I got when I saw it, anyway.

It's on the exclusives page and the only press coverage I found says it's an exclusive, so I'm assuming it's not going to be available elsewhere. Sold out a lot quicker than I expected. It's not part of the Idlewild era (100 Broken Windows to Make Another World) that I care for, so didn't get a copy myself.
