In April 2017 Sylvan Esso assembled a live band comprised of their close friends and collaborators- members of Mountain Man, Wye Oak, The Dead Tongues, The Mountain Goats and Megafaun- to arrange and record full-band versions of songs from their new album What Now. The band took this experiment to Echo Mountain Studios, located in the mountains of North Carolina, and cut five songs live in one day. These limited edition vinyl copies of the Echo Mountain Sessions are only available from the Sylvan Esso webstore. Descensus is truly underrated. I really have no qualms with any of their work except for BSN. Circa's fanbase wouldn't be nearly as cancerous if it wasn't for the cult of "BSN over everything" fuckboiz. BSN was the product of forcing an indie rock band to make a mainstream album on a big label and the outcome was very underwhelming and strained.
