  1. New Post from the Pantopticon: "WPC has announced he will be on hand at ZUZU's July 24 to commemorate the release of AEGEA, his just released album of experimental recordings from 2007. As well, there'll be fresh copies on hand for those who've been unable to pre-purchase pressings 1 and 2 (all of which sold out within an hour of being offered). Details to follow, but ZUZU's tells us they are expecting an evening event, with a playing of the record and perhaps more." If anyone from the Chicago area can head to this on the 24th and get me a Pressing 1, please let me know.

The series gets its name from the epic Less Artists More Condos concerts that Ariel threw, showcasing amazing bands in some strange and unique venues. Ariel’s driving force was a desire to get the bands he believed in the recognition he felt they deserved. This series simply tries to honor that idea. For each LAMC split 7” we ask one of our favorite bands to provide us with an unreleased track for the A-side. We then asked them to pick their favorite emerging artist to provide a track for the B-side. Ariel’s LAMC shows introduced New Yorkers to bands they might not have otherwise discovered – we hope that this series will do the same.
  4. Yes it is. Also it is one of 5 different covers per the article...which means this will be a nightmare to try and get the set.
  5. Article 1: http://www.thevinylfactory.com/vinyl-factory-news/europes-biggest-counterfeit-record-pressing-plant-raided-by-police-in-germany/ Article 2: http://www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/global/6157444/german-police-raid-europes-biggest-counterfeit-pressing-plant Summary: German police have discovered one of the largest illegal pressing plants in Europe for CDs, DVDs and vinyl records. Following a two-year investigation, several properties in Aschaffenburg and in the federal state of Hessen were raided, with officials seizing a significant number CDs, DVDs and vinyl records. The evaluation of the material is still ongoing. ______________________________________________________________________________ Wonder how many bootlegs (e.g. Beyonce, Yeezus) this plant was responsible for. Also, hopefully the vinyl pressing parts/machines can be sold to other pressing plants (such as URP) to increase their capacity. I am guessing this kills a lot of the bootleg stuff that vinyl-digital.com was selling, since they were based in Germany.
  6. This is up on PopMarket right now for $59.99 with free shipping in the USA
  7. Billy has said in interviews on Crestfallen and to me personally when I asked him during their last tour (when I was lucky to attend one of those 5 song performances before the show) that the vinyl will be in Stereo. So if you want the Mono, you'll need to get an original. Plus there was this:
  8. I really hope that the live DVD is from the Adore tour and recorded live at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. I was at that show, it was professionally shot (including a few retakes) and would be an absolutely awesome show to have on DVD.
  9. LMAO...I created the thread and missed the white. After missing Benji too, I picked a really bad night to not check the forum....heh.
  10. Damnit....the one time i don't check the site at night and I miss out. Frickity Frack.
  11. Each of the Unplugged sets now have listings on Elusive Disc at $39.99 each. Hopefully they'll be cheaper at Amazon when listed there. EDIT: $35.97 at Bullmoose
  12. I'm happy for Cleveland fans. This is a good move. What I loved even more is that he made the announcement through SI.com. I'm watching ESPN now and how they are all falling over themselves trying to correct their prior announcements. Want a good laugh? From ESPN.com yesterday: 1. What are the current odds LeBron returns to the Heat? J.A. Adande, ESPN.com: 45 percent. One source, who's in the thick of all of this, told me he has gone from thinking LeBron was a lock to return to Miami to having serious doubts. In my mind, that offsets all the confidence and Dwyane Wade poolside selfies emanating from the Heat. Tom Haberstroh, ESPN Insider: 60 percent. If James had any real ties to the staff in Cleveland, I'd feel differently. I find it hard to believe that James is going to entrust his future with a coach who has never coached in the league, a first-time GM and an owner who wrote this about him. I can see Cleveland in a couple of years, but it seems odd to turn down a championship-winning core and dive in headfirst to uncertainty. Ethan Sherwood Strauss, ESPN.com: 60 percent. For months, I was fairly convinced LeBron was returning to the Heat. It's clear at this point that Miami believed it would have him committed by now. That it doesn't is a bad sign for his future in that town. Still, it's difficult to bet on LeBron leaving Miami and taking a pay cut. I'll stick to my guns that he's coming back, but with every passing hour, my grip loosens on those arms. David Thorpe, ESPN Insider: 99 percent. Forgive me for not getting caught up in the drama and the "beautiful story" of the King's return. He is chasing a legacy of six rings (Jordan), five rings (Duncan and Magic) and three rings (Bird) in an effort to be on the best five of all time list. This Cavs team is not close to what he will have in Miami for the next two years. Plus, the owner issues, the fans turning so hateful on him, and getting a chance to play with close friends he knows and admires and trusts over new guys up and down the Cavs franchise with zero playoff wins under their belt (save Anderson Varejao). Despite what many are saying and writing, Wade is not dead. He was bad in the Finals but terrific before that. Michael Wallace, ESPN.com: 70 percent. The fact that LeBron has gone 10 days already without publicly committing to the Heat is a sign of concern. He certainly appears to be struggling with the decision. But ultimately he'll come to his senses and return to the team that made him a better player and a two-time champion. If he's lost faith in the Heat, I'd really like to hear his reasons from him directly, not his camp.
  13. "Aeges second full length album, Above & Down Below, sees them galloping confidently over any notion of a sophomore slump. The band has taken another step forward with this collection of twelve songs that are as diverse and individual as they are seamless and flowing. It's an especially admirable feat when you consider how busy the band has stayed since releasing their debut full length, The Bridge, in 2012 (which Ghettoblaster Magazine called "one of the most promising debuts in recent memory"). They've effortlessly endured a couple different line-up changes that introduced guitarist/vocalist Cory Clark and drummer Mike Land. The revamped line-up, rounded out by founding member Kemble Walters (vocals/guitar) and Tony Baumeister (bass), was solidified in late 2013 when they began writing the songs that would become Above & Down Below. In between playing shows around the country with Coheed & Cambria, Silver Snakes, Pelican, Big Business and many more bands, as well as writing the new record, and dealing with the line-up changes, the band also found time to further expand their catalog by releasing the Southern Comfort 7" as well as the Bad Blood split 7" with label mates Dust Moth (in which former guitarist Mark Holcomb currently plays). They also made a successful inaugural appearance at the annual SXSW Music Festival this past March, and will be heading out hard in support of the new album this fall. Perhaps because of this steady flow of activity, the songs on Above & Down Below are extremely tight and focused, while being played with a loose confidence and swagger that oozes the spirit of rock and roll. Expanding upon the foundation of the sound that already drew influence from the 90's post-hardcore era, the new record mixes that same heavy edge of Quicksand with the more melodic heavy rock sheen of Soundgarden, Alice In Chains and Queens of the Stone Age. At times it's as heavy as lead, crushing and lurching hard, while other times it's melodic and hook-laden; usually you'll find this contrast within the same song, which is busy making itself quite at home in your head. The album was mixed and mastered by Matt Hyde (Deftones, Slayer, Children of Bodom, Behemoth) at his home studio. The band self-produced the effort and Kemble recorded it at The Sound Portal. Casey Howard (Mastodon, Deftones, The Mars Volta, Avenged Sevenfold) handled the art direction, design and layout for the album. The Mylene Sheath (Pelican, Caspian, Junius, Dust Moth) will be releasing the album worldwide on September 23rd." Link to new track Fault: https://soundcloud.com/themylenesheath/aeges-fault/s-T52Gd Per Mylene Sheath: The LP will feature gatefold jackets and be available on 3 different colors. I'll update the OP when the date is announced.
  14. Apparently so, which is BS. Here is what they just e-mailed me, after I responded to the e-mail this morning: "Hello, We don't have a definite ETA yet, once we get the remainder of the inventory, all orders will be sent out together. We'll send more email updates once we know more." Let's hope it doesn't take another 8 months to get the other 60 copies. If they got the first batch, then at least whomever is pressing this, got it figured out (based on the pictures, it looked like a pain in the ass to try and make) and it would hopefully not take as long.
  15. Great question. It would appear that the RSD folks messed up by listing it as a RSD first release. I contacted Fat Possum today, who released it, and was told that it was exclusive to RSD and there won't be an additional pressing. Hopefully you can find one reasonable on Discogs or through someone here.

  18. Can you believe we’re at our 21st Vault package? It seems like only yesterday we were overwhelmed with mono Icky Thump LPs, folding t-shirts, driving the packages to the post office (before we’d figured out USPS would just pick ‘em up from us) and generally feeling like there was no way we’d ever get through mailing all of those. Memories. Keeping our promise made a few months back, the 7-inch for this go-round is another deadly two song pairing from the leather nightmares of the Dead Weather. THESE ARE TWO NEW ORIGINAL TRACKS…DEBUTING ON VINYL EXCLUSIVELY FOR VAULT MEMBERS! Pressed on pretty golden vinyl, the tracks “BUZZKILL(ER)” and “IT'S JUST TOO BAD” are further examples that this band, in their downtime from Queens of the Stone Age, the Kills and JW solo, are more deadly than 99% of the rest of the also-rans out there. Don’t let the waterfowl on the single cover fool you…this single spits fire. The LP for Vault #21 is a release unrelated to new albums or anniversaries or anything of that sort…just something that feels right. THE WHITE STRIPES LIVE UNDER RISING SUN LIGHTS showcases Jack and Meg in their first overseas trip in October 2000. While the band’s two Japanese shows were far from sold out, the power transmitted by the band is captivating. This double LP contains the entirety of the the White Stripes’ two Tokyo performances. With an on-mic shout-out to the evening’s headliners the 5.6.7.8’s, the Stripes would also cover that band’s classic song “I Walk Like Jayne Mansfield” in an improvised medley that also included Screaming Lord Sutch’s “Jack the Ripper.” Other highlights from the two nights include a rare cover of Iggy Pop’s “I’m Bored” as well as pre-White Blood Cells takes on “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground.” Complete with unseen photos taken during one of the performances and a sneaky die-cut, gatefold jacket, this live document leaves nothing to be desired to even the most die-hard fanatic. For our third item…a first in the Third Man world… A FLAG! A proper 3ft by 5ft, wave it high, show your colors, all aboard the SS TMR rock and roll flag. This thing will give the jolly roger a run for it’s money. And if that weren’t enough…there’s a contest involved. Once they’ve received their flags, Vault members are encouraged to submit photos of the flag in different, unique states of display. The “best” photo, as arbitrarily decided by a team of Third Man’s finest indentured servants, will receive test pressings of both the 7” and 12” discs from the Vault 21 package. You can’t beat that with a stick.
  19. These are up early. They have a combo pack that includes the tour variant (only 50 available) so hurry. Off the main page: http://www.themurdercitydevils.com/
