  1. This thing looks and sounds amazing. Finally, a "deluxe edition" actually worth the price tag! (Honestly, they probably could've charged more, the book is extremely well done and there's no way it was cheap to produce.) So happy to finally have this record on my turntable.
  2. Put me down for TTN too. Don’t care about the variant, just wanna finally put this thing on my turntable.
  3. Not sure where you got that number from, it's only triple platinum in the US. (Triple platinum is still impressive, even if this band is dogshit.)
  4. Tiger & The Duke is still fuckin' phenomenal, but the second they involved Craig Owens I peaced out. That voice is just unlistenable to me. I saw them on their last tour and they are absolute beasts live, though.
  5. I mean, one is a recovering drug addict, one is recovering from cancer and one was in a plane crash and experienced third degree burns all over his body.
  6. $34 + shipping for a single LP with no firm release date and only 15 seconds of music currently released? The absolute hardest pass.
  7. Extra 40% off clearance vinyl at Urban Outfitters (discount taken at checkout): https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/vinyl-records-for-sale
  8. I pulled this record out randomly the other week and holy hell is it still top notch. If you don't own it, get on it!
  9. Murder By Death was selling this earlier too but they're already sold out. They had 100 copies alotted, so I'm assuming every band on the comp also is getting 100 and there's approximately 600 being sold directly through that Big Cartel link.

From the inbox: September 29, 2022 - Parlophone Records proudly announces DAVID BOWIE: DIVINE SYMMETRY, a four-CD, one Blu-ray box set and digital equivalent. The collection celebrates the 12 months leading up to the release of the album Hunky Dory in December 1971 via home demos, BBC radio sessions, and live and studio recordings. DAVID BOWIE: DIVINE SYMMETRY contains 48 previously unreleased tracks/demos and new alternative mixes of Hunky Dory tracks by original co-producer Ken Scott. Two books accompany DIVINE SYMMETRY, a 100-page hardback book featuring exclusive memorabilia and photos, alongside a 60-page replica composite of Bowie’s notebooks from the era featuring handwritten lyrics, costume drawings, recording notes, and set lists. The sleeve notes were written for the release by Bowie expert Tris Penna, along with contributions from Hunky Dory, including co-producer Ken Scott, lifelong Bowie friends Geoff MacCormack and George Underwood, singer Dana Gillespie, guitarist Mark Pritchett, Friars Aylesbury promoter David Stopps, publisher Bob Grace, and photographer Louanne Richards. 1971 was a pivotal year for Bowie. He signed a record deal with RCA, met Andy Warhol, Lou Reed, and Iggy Pop while in New York, became a father and penned the song "KOOKS" as a show of paternal pride, and played live for the first time that June with Mick Ronson, Woody Woodmansey and Trevor Bolder. This band would later be christened The Spiders From Mars and recorded the classic album, Hunky Dory. "KOOKS," recorded by Bowie and guitarist Mick Ronson for the BBC’s Sounds Of The 70s presented by Bob Harris, is now available for download and streaming. It was recorded at Kensington House, Shepherds Bush, London, Studio T1 for BBC Radio on September 21, 1971, and broadcasted on October 4, 1971. 11. They were INCREDIBLE last night in Cleveland. I hope this leads to a more permanent reunion, and that shelved fifth record finally comes out.

  14. This thing was so unorganized when it came to Cleveland last year, but I got a bunch of cheap records so I can't complain too much.

Before starting the 20-show run at the Fillmore, Tom Petty outlined his plans in an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle: “We’re musicians and we want to play. We’ve made so many records in the past five years, I think the best thing for us to do is just go out and play and it will lead us to our next place, wherever that may be.” The shows at the Fillmore ended up being some of the most joyful, honest, inspirational and prolific experiences of the band’s career, creating a unique bond between the group and their fans. This album features more covers than originals, paying tribute to the artists and songs that shaped Petty’s love of music as he was growing up—before he became a legendary songwriter and performer in his own right. Highlights include Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door,” J.J. Cale’s “Crazy Mama,” The Rolling Stones’ “Time is On My Side” and more from The Kinks, Everly Brothers, Bill Withers, The Byrds, Chuck Berry and Booker T. & the M.G.’s. The collection also features special performances with The Byrds’ front man Roger McGuinn and blues legend John Lee Hooker. Other standouts include extended versions of original tracks “Mary Jane’s Last Dance” and “It’s Good To Be King.” “Playing the Fillmore in 1997 for a month was one of my favorite experiences as a musician in my whole life. The band was on fire and we changed the set list every night. The room and the crowd was spiritual... AND... we got to play with some amazing guests. I will always remember those nights with joy and inspiration.”—Mike Campbell The Fillmore was a laboratory for the band. The captivating sold out performances were such a hit, the Heartbreakers were even nicknamed the “Fillmore House Band.” At the final show, Petty noted as he took the stage: “We all feel this might be the highpoint of our time together as a group… It’s going to be hard to get us off this stage tonight.” The record will be offered in a 3 LP version simulating one of the concerts and a comprehensive box set featuring 58 songs and 14 humorous spoken word tracks that highlight Petty’s connection with his band and his fans from the stage. The shows were taped during the last six nights of the band’s historic residency. The compilation was meticulously curated by producers Ryan Ulyate and Mike Campbell and executive producers Benmont Tench, Adria Petty, Annakim Petty and Dana Petty. 16. Fuckin' FINALLY got the Laura Jane Grace 10-inch from Polyvinyl in today's mail, a literal year after I pre-ordered it. Vinyl delays rock.
  17. I saw the FB post yesterday and clicked on the link when it was only six minutes old. They were already sold out at that point.
  18. Jeep Brah and Mosh Girl are two of the greatest things the internet ever produced.
  19. I got Fight Like Apes' And The Mystery Of The Golden Medallion 15th anniversary import LP in the mail yesterday, a few weeks ahead of its intended street date. Pretty stoked on that! This band was so good but they never caught on in America.
  20. “During Covid, I was writing my debut solo LP, and mentally, I was sick of everything in quarantine. Lots of frustration had set in at home, and I figured the best way to deal with it was to write something heavy. I had no intention of writing anything for Botch, but when I was thinking of a singer to collaborate with, I thought, “Hey, I know the best hardcore singer ever to do it,” so I hit up Dave V. He was super excited and so it just kind of snowballed from there. There was never any intent or conversation about getting back together or writing. It just happened so naturally and was a great release for all of us to make it happen without any of the traditional pressure an “active” band faces.”
  21. In the before-COVID times, every time as buddy of mine in a touring band would go to Japan, I'd have them go record shopping for me. Japan is my absolute bucket-list vacation spot and honestly, it's largely because of the record stores. (And also the culture and the food and the nature etc etc etc, but man, those record stores!)
  22. I'm still kinda shocked 15 Passenger never had a variant or domestic pressing for this. Just an absolute beast of a record, and I'm so glad I imported a copy two years ago.
