serum7 got a reaction from tvham in Record Store Day 2018
I go to one shop here nearly every week, and last RSD I went at about 2am. It was great, they had a sign up list so you didn't have to stand in a terrible line all night, a fire pit, and music playing. People were just hanging out talking records and music. If you wanted to hop in your car and take a nap you could, it's in a nice area so you can walk around the neighborhood too. Then a couple hours before they open the bring donuts from a local shop and local coffee roasters come out and you get free breakfast.

I understand not all of them are like this. I was basically done with RSD until I decided to do that on a whim last year and it was my favorite one yet.

Plaid Room Records for Cinci for sure. Shake It Records, Black Plastic, and Everybody's Records are within a half hour of that as well if you want to make a morning/afternoon of it. I'm sure there's a few more in the area, specifically at least a couple right across the river in KY you could hit too, but I'm not familiar with them.

I'm probably going to have a chance to spin my black copy tonight. Once I do I'll report back.

I almost picked up a bootleg of Prince's Black Album yesterday from a local store. I just couldn't drop the $30 on it without knowing how it sounds.

The "Sound of Vinyl" gold version is available now if you do their text service thing. Don't think I can pull the trigger at $30 for that one though.

Latest round of Colemine releases are up for order (for email subscribers), including The Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio LP.

Good point. I suppose my response was more geared toward the record store part of the equation.  Then again all the cities mentioned (including Cincinnati) sound terrible so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'll throw Cincinnati out there. Lots of record stores and probably a cheaper overall trip. From my house there are at least 5 record stores (Plaid Room Records, Shake It Records, Everybody's Records, Black Plastic, Main St. Vinyl) within 30 minutes, you can easily hit at least 4 of them in a day with a couple of short skips across the highway. I believe there are at least 3 or 4 more right across the river in northern KY too.

I've been waiting on some sort of vinyl announcement for this since the EP came out last year on CD from Flake Records in Japan. The CD contained 6 tracks, while the 7" looks to only be 2 tracks (Somebody Else & Dive) according to Amazon.
You can see the listing and pre-order at Amazon here. It says it's coming via RFC so I would imagine a pre-order hitting there sometime soon as well.

So many labels order "first" and "second" presses at the same time and literally sit on the second presses, although I guess you can call them first press technically. It's more common than you think. And in this case Saddle Creek more than likely didn't plan on it or do it strategically to save money on their overall unit cost, they were simply trying to give more people an option to get a color variant cause it sold out so fast. My point is... I only see this as a positive thing unless you're a selfish asshole

Looking forward to this album though. AOTY potential. I copped the second press tri + the indie exclusive. Will totally buy / trade for the /500 tri color if someone wants to make some ca$h off me or wants a different variant of the album (I'll order it for you)

    Pressing plant: "Ok"

There ya go. Not really a tell since none of it exists yet.

It's hard enough for smaller labels to make money off of vinyl these days. If more color gimmicks work then bring them on. More money for the band/label, more options for the consumer.

Really hitting their stride right now.
The Delvon Lamaar Organ Trio is so great, and all three of them are members of The True Loves whose LP I'll be releasing in a few months.

I love how Jim edited all his original posts where he was arguing that he had the inside scoop and these were originals that were found but now has completely changed the story.

So please tell us that inside scoop you had

Kind of re-fell in love with Topshelf after going to the Topshelf Tour the other night. Went for Slingshot Dakota & Prawn, left a fan of People Like You and Us & Us Only as well.

This album is pretty great too. I need to go back and check out the stuff I glossed over this year.
