Glad you joined in Don! This thread was missing you! This thread is the reason I've joined in on all the Damascus fun in the PO thread. Love that band! Thanks to Derek.
    Currently listening to Sisters Of...
Midway through the first song & I can tell this band is in my wheelhouse.

Oh & how have we gone this far without mentioning "guy who screams 'Play this song!!' "after EVERY song played that isn't said song? I'll admit I've yelled out a song before (in my younger days) but was never persistent. Thrice fans know every show has "Deadbolt" guy. It's worst when it's a small, intimate venue where the band is about 10 feet away & trying to just chat with the audience between songs. I just don't get being that deliberate of an a-hole.

Dammit, I hate when bands I love kick their fans in the dick. Fuck that.

Does that count as an H? Doesn't matter, not one album I've posted has gotten more than 1 vote. Guess I just don't listen to as many "classics" as I should!

Hey Topshelf dudes, I have put zero effort into actually looking, but is there anyway to still snag one of those USB things from their NA tour?

If 100 ppl buy this before tomorrow before I get paid & can buy this myself, I'm going to shame all of you for spreading the word, even though said word is responsible for turning me on to this band.

An idea just popped into my head.
I was thinking each of us should post 2 albums from 2013, one that can be found on Spotify, & one that can be found on Bandcamp (or 1 band that can be found on both), for someone to check out. The idea being that random people can check out a random album they have no preconceived notion about, in hopes that someone will find something new they like.
I was thinking we can quote the suggestion we're going to check out, along with posting a suggestion of his or her own. Once you listen to the album, you can edit your post to include your thoughts on what you listened to.
I'd say don't even post a "RIYL (Recommemded If You Like)" or list the genre of the band you suggest. I think it would be cool to just go into it completely blind. Obviously if you get a few seconds in & it's something you hate, you can post about it & move on.
& if this idea sucks, flame away & we can just move on haha.
    But, here are my two...
    Ha Ha Tonka - Lessons

    damascus - Heights

Wow after reading through this thread I feel like La Dispute is the new Dave Matthews Band. Yeah, I really did just make the comparison.
Sounds like a lot of ya'll really do just hate the music, but it also sounds like a lot of ya'll hate them because of a select group of douche fans that make it easy to hate the band.
In either case, I love both bands, on my own, because I love their music, their lyrics, and their performances, but I don't associate myself with said groups of douche fans.
In relating back to DMB, I've personally known a bunch of people that say "Fuck DMB, what a piece of shit band." And then I ask why & it's always related to their fans. Yet other than singles, they haven't even listened to them.
Reading through this thread I see a lot of "Listened to 5 seconds...and now I've determined that La Dispute blows". I think that's a ridiculous way to judge a band.
I agree that Jordan's lyrics can be a bit over the top & just fancy ways to say some clichèd "Cry me a river" style things, but what about songs like "King Park", "I See Everything" & "Edward Benz...27 Times"? I don't see how fault can be found in songs like that.
Wildlife as a whole is one of my favorite albums. I think from start to finish it's very complete & paints a perfect picture of what the name of the album implies.
    Just my input there.
