Currently working on a review for an outlet down here in Australia.

Can honestly say that I think this is their best work since Slip. Has the right balance of all of their best elements, while not sounding like a nostalgia trip.

Best way I can sum it up. A lot of single string type riffs like Slip, but I think this is an entire group effort as it pulls from all their respective projects and influences.

I will say this though - while there are softer Rival Schools elements (only natural as the 98 demos were heading that direction), this record is far heavier than Interiors. Production is excellent too.

Sorry but what you wrote seems confirm my idea...As they wrote on facebook statement after the Capone's arrest they recorded it as a trio, so my idea is that Walter add some second guitar parts, but deciding to play live as a trio he didn't record too much parts and they put them low in the mix....Then Capone came back to play shows but only when the record was finished....

    Huh?

Tom was arrested after the album was already recorded, then booted from the band.

They recorded it as a trio PRIOR to his arrest because he wasn’t involved with any of it due to his own personal issues, which lead to him being kicked out of the band during the tour when he was arrested for theft.... which all happened after the album was already recorded.

Didn't they record Slip without TC3? Live they really do need any one of their friends to jump in on second guitar and fill out the sound.

Correct. There are a few old interviews where Walter talks about that. Tom had actually been kicked out of the band prior to the writing and recording of Slip. He came back in and laid down the solos on the record, extremely close to deadline. Apparently that’s the only thing recorded of his on the album.

What i wanna say is that the lack and the low volume of the 2nd guitar parts in Interiors is the direct consequence of their decision to play live as a trio....

Was not a consequence of them deciding to play live as trio.... Capone was supposed to play on the record but skipped on a bunch of writing sessions.

The album was already in the bag before that tour.

Just finished my first listen as well, really good stuff, but yeah, needs some more spins. Strangely I found the opener to be my least favourite, but Silver Wings is an absolute banger, worthy successor for Dancing in Madness.

I wasn’t a fan of the first song when it was originally released and I’ve been skipping it on this.... but the rest of the album is fantastic.

To those who've listened: do you feel like the singles were pretty odd or weak choices?  So many other cuts on this album scratched that classic Deftones itch, but under a fresh lens or with a slightly new twist.  I'm willing to accept that the singles will grow on me, but the real meat and potatoes is somewhere around the middle through the back half for me.

I feel like choosing the closing track as the first single was a weird choice, especially how it doesn’t really fall in place with the rest of the record. Great closer though, but I prefer Genesis. Great track.

All in all, fantastic record. So glad Stephen was really back in the fold, you can hear him all over the writing throughout.

Heavy self/titled and SNW vibes IMO.
