mxv replied to dreamover's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I decided to treat myself by getting myself a birthday present so I ordered the box set. It should be here in the next couple of days and I'm really excited about it. -

PO: Misfits - Project 1950 (reissue)
mxv replied to xadamhudsonx's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
You forgot the quotes around "the misifts" because The Misfits that is not. -
I loved Amrep but much like Hydrahead, they priced me out of being a customer. In fact Amrep's prices are even more offensive. I get the limited nature and hand-made sleeve thing but $30 for a new 7" is absurd. I could see paying up to $15 which is still high but that would make it way easier to justify. I've just resigned myself to the fact that no matter how cool their stuff looks and is, I'll just never own any of it.

Nirvana - Unplugged - "Back to Black" pressing
mxv replied to andynz's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
The few various Back to Black releases I have all sounded very good and I was happy with them. -
True story: I (along with many of my Resistance Pro brothers and sisters) sang on stage with Billy during the last show at that show. It was a pretty surreal experience for many of us, myself especially as usually I'm the guy taking pictures of people on the stage, not the guy on the stage! Methuselah was one of the standouts of that show for me but really the whole thing was pretty excellent.

Albums That Differ From Their CD Counterparts
mxv replied to KnowNothing's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Only the pressings on PVC or Line records. The Caroline reissue LP/CD is that same steamy pile as the CD (though there was a PVC version of the CD which is very hard to find and was the correct version). It still pisses me off that they ruined that album and the ruined version is the only one you can buy anywhere. -
Albums That Differ From Their CD Counterparts

The version of "Get Down" on the LP version of Revolting Cocks - Beers, Steers, and Queers is a lot different (and also shorter) than the one on the CD version. To this day, the LP version of that song has never been released digitally (CD or otherwise). -
F / Duke Decter Army Split 7" Now Shipping
mxv replied to weck's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Got them but I haven't had a chance to play them yet, hopefully Sunday! -
Actually in most cases it costs more to press on colored vinyl vs. black vinyl. The exception usually being the "leftover color vinyl" option where it's random.

THE OFFICIAL EBAY CRAZINESS THREAD
mxv replied to vinyljunkie's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
That price is ridiculous. Maybe the person who made the tag was dyslexic and the 6 and the 3 were reversed on accident. -
Does anyone else collect gold promo stamped LPs?

This made me laugh so hard that I think I peed a little! -
Does anyone else collect gold promo stamped LPs?
mxv replied to NotoriousTIMP's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I don't seek them out but over the years I've acquired probably quite a few of them. I don't know because i don't bother to acknowledge them in my database, I just treat them as regular copies unless there was something else unique about them (like special labels or something). Do you also collect those promos that were pressed on "high quality audiophile vinyl"? I have two Cure albums (Kiss Mex3 and Disintegration) and the first Sugarcubes album like that. -

Damn straight! I love that comp. And my favorite White Flag song is on that one ("Hanging Up My Youth" which Bill from White Flag told me was easily their most polarizing song - people either liked it or truly hated it). I think sometime soon I'm going to bust out that comp and give it another spin. Do you also have that comp's foreign counterpart - 5 Bands that changed the world? Less songs by the 4 bands and they added FOD. -

Younger folks never would have heard of F. They only put out a couple of records when they were an active band and both of them went out of print fairly quickly and not reissued for over 25 years so they never got the widespread exposure that a band like Black Flag or Minor Threat did. -
