I think people have to take a long hard look at why things like this are increasingly happening in this scene. Why do bands or band members think they can use the guitar around their neck as an invitation to violate a woman? People can laugh about the Riot Girl and Girls Up Front reaction fostered in the 90s - and certainly creeps existed - but they certainly knew they weren't welcome. Similar to how when I was a kid a wicked Neo-Nazi faction existed that is now by and large gone - it takes action and sometimes very forceful, direct and uncomfortable action. This isn't my scene but those of you that are fostering it are due for a swift and radical shift in attitude and direction. Don't wait for someone else to dictate it, take control and foster the environment you want to remember not the bullshit. People can laugh about some of the insane shit and bands we supported in the 90s but like fuck if there was a person in that room that wasn't welcomed and comfortable.

Good luck gang. Fuck the internet tirades and create the venues you want, create the music you want to hear and be among the people you want to love and support.

I had 5 Brand New fans in front of me in line for 5 hours today. It was a verrrrrry slow 5 hours listening to them. I only now realize that Brand New is essentially a cult and their fans are the dumbest people I've ever listened to. I lived in Florida through the 2000 election with an asshole who stood on the corner with a "You're either with us or with them sign" on one corner and Krishna's on the other. For a month that was the dumbest scene I'd ever had to experience on an intellectual level until this morning listening to some asshole dropping choice quotes like "when I get home I'm going to cuddle my Deja in bed. I might play it once before I put it in the frame I bought..."

Sorry gang. It was brutal and there is no way that was an anomaly.

I know I've lost all respect from everyone in the world for not giving a shit about this girl (although I did hear a lot of her music on the radio during vacation since my daughters hijacked the car stereo - didn't change my mind), but at least I never publicly insulted the greatest country on earth for liking to eat or for the way it's people look!

Did a sprint Tri as my final tune-up for the challenge Atlantic City 70.3.
Nasty morning but took 9th overall and 2nd age group. Good part: pushed my bike into the wind well. Bad: another weak-ish run off the bike. Averaged 7:25 but thought I'd do better. All in all no complaints as it was a solid effort.

The second significant ex in my life is someone who's heart I broke. We'd been together five years and by the end we both drank too much - her more so than me - but neither of us were Angels. She started to hit me when drunk and I withheld physical affection. The last straw was the night I got the call that one of my oldest friends had Overdosed and died. I didn't want to be alone but when I went to wake her she was so drunk I couldn't. I walked the streets of Brooklyn until 4am openly crying. I decided that night to end it and clean up my life. Well as we were breaking up I met another girl who was instantly the positive force I needed. It is still cheating and I live with that guilt but yes, I was with someone else by the time we moved out from being with each other. Sobering took a long time and I got smashed a few weeks later and punched my hand shattering a mirror the night of my friends memorial show at CBGB. I sat on the side walk crying harder than I ever have, drunk, hand pouring blood onto the sidewalk when my friend walked up with bandages he bought at the pharmacy and started patching me up. He told me to call my new girl knowing she was good for me and on that call I promised to get a therapist. I did that the next day and really turned shit around.
I broke one heart in the way we broke up but Married the next girl. So things worked out.

Subscribers are sent three items at a time, all of which were hand-picked by those at the company, and which represent all genres and different kinds of talent. This is a great way to hear all the music you want on the best format for listening.
