It's something they publicly said to all their friends and followers already. They might enjoy their comments being broadcast this way, as if their message is reaching more people.
Best thing to do with racists is just refuse to acknowledge their stupid thoughts (provided they don't cross the line from bigot to criminal).

The idea that someone is doing something wrong by charging $5 for shipping and it only cost them $4 so they sneakily made a dollar is retarded.
When you agree to a deal, on here, ebay, with a label, or a distro, you are agreeing to pay x dollars for a record shipped to your door by a certain postal mode. If $5 is too much shipping on an LP, then bid a dollar less (or don't buy the record from the store). Trying to micromanage what is for the record and what is for shipping is a waste of time (which is why smartly, 95% of prices quoted on here are ppd).

This would be a powerful tool that would bring a lot of new traffic to the site.
It really requires very strict standardization of the tradeslists (even more so than what I saw). Just played around with it for the first time and I saw different entries for Gaslight Anthem - Sink or Swim on "clear" and "Clear". Plus you don't want some people calling "orange" "gold" and stuff. Good luck doing anything with Against Me! - Reinventing Axl Rose.
Ever single option needs to be standardized (ie, chosen from a dropdown or for something like band name, you type the first 4 letters and then the full name shows up). Not sure how this info is being obtained right now. But if you can balance having rigid standardization but still having the ability to easily grow the database as new records come out and old records are entered for the first time, you have essentially made the text/spreadsheet based tradeslist systems obsolete.

Well like I posed the question to Kyle, what should they be doing? They can't really create customers. Anyone who doesn't have a smartphone by now is probably in that "I just want a phone that dials numbers and is simple" category (ie, 40s and up). They have to try and get them from their competitors.
Whether they have a superior product or not, they have to try and convince people that they do. Giving up isn't an option for a publicly traded company (at least until it's time to declare bankruptcy).

My point is that a sustainable business can handle a personal situation from the owner. One person doing everything, charging very little, and passing the savings on to us is AWESOME. Props to your friend. But that can't last forever. Family members die. People get married. They get divorced. They get sick. And if you don't charge enough to have a little rainy day fund to get through the ups and downs with some help (whether they be financial or personal), then this is going to happen eventually.
The fact that it ended basically in itself proves that it was unsustainable. If it wasn't, it wouldn't be closing. Think you are attaching some kind of meaning to the word "unsustainable" that isn't there. Like that "it was dumb financial sense to charge less than everyone else and that is why it closed". No way.

I would recommend reading all of this:
    http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=146519303
You might think "I don't need to read anything on a body-building website. I'm just gonna do my thing and I won't look like Arnold, but I'll get bigger". There are a ton of tips in there that will help you to work out properly. Some that come to mind:
Unless you are just starting to work out, it is very difficult to get big and lose weight at the same. If you want to get big, you need a calorie surplus. Then you can lose whatever fat you pick up as well once you have muscle.
Don't think "I just want arms so that is all I will do". Our bodies like to grow all at once. You'll see better results if you do a full-body routine.
Give yourself plenty of time to rest. Doing 300 curls everyday is NOT the way to get bigger arms. I do a 4 day routine (with a light amount of crunches thrown in everyday):
    day 1: bench and squats
day 2: bis, tris, and calves
    day 3: shoulders and traps
    day 4: rest
And you can do just about all this with dumbells. You can substitute push-ups for benching. For tris, you just need a stable chair and your body weight. Squatting your body-weight is probably going to tire you pretty quick.

It's moving in the right direction but there is still incentive to cheat. 75 games away followed by 80 million over 6 years (which is what Melky almost had within reach if he had been caught after signing a new deal) is much better than being a journeyman 4th OF (which is the path that Melky was on until his giant turnaround, which I am assuming is attributable at least partially to PEDs). He will probably still get a better contract when he comes back based on recent performance than if he hadn't cheated and was hitting .270 with single digit HRs.
If I was Jordan Schafer or Mike Carp or Travis Snider or any other youngish player who hasn't "made it", I'd take my chances and roid.

This is a little off topic but I love that your distro just puts all the records on one page rather than having them split up into chunks of 10 or 25 you have to keep clicking through

Strikeouts really don't compare well across eras. Not as bad as wins, but still. It's not a coincidence that all the 20 K games have come in the last 25 years or so.
And if you are gonna judge this way, I don't think the stat to justify it with is the number of defensive outs. A guy can blast two balls just foul and whiff on the 3rd for a strikeout, the pitcher barely missing giving up a run. A pitcher can also get a ton of weak nubbers and pop-flys that are really terrible at-bats. The best thing to look at would probably be hard hit balls that resulted in outs.

Create a "VC Local" main thread to add to the 4 main ones. The sub-threads would be major cities. Anything specific to a city would go in there (extra concert tickets, ride shares, local record stores, promoting anything you want). When someone asks the question "I am going to ... and need advice on activities to do" they will be targeting the question at locals and also, the responses will be catalogued in an area-specific thread that will stick around for future use. It will also be very useful for the "I am going to this show, who from VC is going to be there and wants to hang out?" conversation.
Look at how much more attention the turntable thread is getting now that it has it's proper place rather than being an overlooked sticky at the top of the main board. I would definitely add a "Metro Detroit" thread to the list of threads I read regularly. When mixed in with everything else, they just get pushed into the old thread abyss pretty quickly and forgotten about, though.
