  1. Thank you to those who have donated so far! I really appreciate your support for this project. Here is a poem that will be in the book that you will receive as a thank you gift. For some reason I can't paste in these posts, so I am retyping just one here. River I am like a baby turtle swimming for the first time, but I am the only one left out of all the baby sea turtles. I have a weird personality. I am a dreamer. I dream about the past and future. I stand with others no matter what. I help and love animals no matter how smelly, no matter how mean, no matter how soft or rough. I do things in different ways. And if you follow your heart you could get past the river. - Aiyana
  2. I am in a mad dash to try and get the students' poems typed up and to do my cut and paste layout for this year's chapbook anthology. During the last week of school we have a "Poet's Café" where we invite the whole 2nd grade into our 3rd grade room to hear each poet read a poem. For this event we provide a small snack and a drink. We are talking about 100 kids, so this gets expensive. To help offset costs I am holding out a hat for $10 donations. For your $10(or more) donation you will get a copy of this book, which is just folded pages stapled together with a cardstock cover filled with 38 poems. This is not the big anthology that will hopefully come later, this is just this year's poets in my class. I will mail your book when school ends in June. If you're international a bit extra to cover more postage would be greatly appreciated. I can take up to 10 donations. If you're interested, just pm me and I can give you my info. All money will be used toward the snacks for our little poetry event. I have only typed in the poems of a few students, so far, but I can tell it's going to be a good year. I could do a whole book filled with one particular student's work. I will try to post some of the new work tomorrow evening. Thanks for all of your awesome comments!
  3. At this point, I am generally bored with all of the newgaze bands. Everything is sounding the same, though I guess that could be said of any genre. This album, on the other hand, stands high above all of the others. The sound is superb, dense and yet open and airy. It took a while, but I am really damn glad I made this purchase.
  4. I am looking forward to the new Sleep album. I wish Matt would do another record with Kalas. I think they may be my favorite of all of his bands and no one talks about them. http://youtu.be/RQOp6x2_Yg4
  5. 1. You like overpaying for vinylz. 2. This record will probably be pretty damn good. 3. You want to flip it when everyone is crying that it is sold out.
  6. Hesitated for just a second and then bought. Looks like ten songs, so hopefully a full album(by their standard anyway)?
  7. Picked up a bunch of great stuff. I never heard of The Great Old Ones and they fit right into what I'm listening to. I will spread the word.
  8. I have a bunch of stuff including the S&F To The Beat. Shoot me a pm and I will message you back next week!
  9. That sucks that you missed them. If I compare the last time I saw Mastodon with the last time I saw Kvelertak there would be no contest, Kvelertak would completely destroy. Also as far as merch prices go, some of these venues can charge a nice percentage for each item that a band sells. That is one reason why merch costs so much at these bigger shows. I know at the Greek in Berkeley they charge 30%. This is not an excuse for signing an album and selling it for $70.
  10. Finally got my EU 180 gm black and blue copy. It's definitely the best version, so far. This album is growing on me the more I listen to it. I really didn't like it at all when I first listened to it. It took me a good 8-10 listens before it took hold. For some reason, Menzingers albums always just take longer to get into. In the end, they become records I listen to a lot.
  11. It's going to be cool in about 10-15 years when all of these overpriced super limited records will be in a $2 bin and they will all be in perfectly unplayed condition.
  12. Mail carrier just rang the bell and left a fat package with German writing. Well, you know the rest of the story. Blasting this now and it sounds beautiful. All of the color came out great and I'm glad I sprung for the shirt with the album artwork.
  13. Thank you for reminding me about these guys. Picked them up for 20% off at the 1234Go sale. If anyone likes these guys you should check out Ian Carr's Nucleus for funky, fusion, prog jazz. http://youtu.be/b-Cu5TJm0GI There is also a bad psych band named from Toronto called Nucleus, don't get them mixed up.
  14. Ordered. Their name was always what kept me from checking them out. When I saw them open for OFF! I had to get past that, because they seriously killed it.
  15. She is doing a crowd fund(yeah, I hate that crap, too), but it is more like a pre-order. Bummer there is no vinyl option, but since hearing her duet with The Turnpike Troubadours I've always wanted to hear more. Really good Americana/Alt Country sound. Turnpike Troubadours http://youtu.be/GMcIr7AwvSw Her Pledge Music with samples http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/jamielinwilson
  16. Yep, this is like the Red Fang bullshit. When they did that whole stupid bundle thing with the onesie I decided not to buy any version of that record. There is so much really good music out there, so why waste time with this type of crap. BTW I've been a big Mastodon fan for long time, not giving up on them, but probably not buying this record either. It's sad that people are starting to see a $40 record as a good, cheaper option.
  17. Once again the major labels coming "Round" to try and squeeze out every last drop of profit, all the while killing enthusiasm for this rapidly growing appreciation for records. Can't they see that they are slitting their own throats? The sky vinylz is falling.
  18. It makes sense that it's quadruple the price of a regular record!
  19. Yep, cereal box thin mailer was a stupid way to ship these out. I got lucky with no damage. Hopefully others will get theirs safely.
  20. Thanks. Finally bought this thing! Don't know why I waited so long.
  21. I got shipping notification for my EU copy. Has anyone seen an actual picture, not the mock up, of the pressing?
