For lovers of Alt-Country / Americana music
lexicondevil replied to OldHand's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
I downloaded Goodbye Normal Street by Turnpike Troubadours and am really digging it. Now I want to get it on vinyl. I think I like the songs on what would be side B on the record better than the A side. Here is a link to a $5 Amazon DL http://www.amazon.com/Goodbye-Normal-Street-Turnpike-Troubadours/dp/B007MMRW1E/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1391183809&sr=1-2&keywords=turnpike+troubadours I'm still listening to Ocean Carolina. Haven't pulled the trigger yet. Ocean Carolina have a very breezy country sound that seems like more of a grower. Still deciding.- 71 replies

That is cool. When I bought it I just assumed it was black. I wonder how many different colors they have. -
Psych thread & reccomendations
lexicondevil replied to icecream's topic in Everything Else Message Board
Seriously. I was bummed the thread wasn't about the show. That American Idol spoof episode from season 2 was classic. -
I have only one rule for me and everyone in front of me, GET YOUR FUCKIN' PHONE OUT OF MY FACE. If you want to take a pic, cool, make it quick. If you want to video the show, keep it low or stay home and just watch the youtube video that some other pain in the ass already posted. I've seen people watch entire shows on their goddamn phone instead of actually looking up at the band. Then again, maybe I was watching someone watching the show on their phone, so I guess I am stupiderest.

Got mine today. Red vinyl and sounds great. The cover is just a xerox job and hand numbered. -
I just had to pick up a sig con package at the post office and I had to sign their little digital pad, so you would think any of that info would be available on the net? Having to sign for a package sucks, but at least you know it is not sitting out for somebody to steal. And the post office is open on Saturdays for pick up. I guess if you're working all the time you could have it sent to your work.

My guess would be for "My corner has a small crease in it. Can I get a replacement?" type situations. -

My friends' band, Disastroid. I think their description is pretty much there: "Disastroid is three guys from San Francisco. They play heavy music that's influenced by sludgy bands like Melvins and Harvey Milk, stoner bands like QOTSA and Fu Manchu, and the more raw jittery vibe of bands like Drive Like Jehu, Fugazi, and Jesus Lizard. There's some math rock in there too, but don't get too stressed out about it." Cool stuff. Definitely a grunge thing going on. Check it out! https://disastroid.bandcamp.com/ -

I can guess a bunch, but nowhere near the leader. I'm just glad you shared this smart way to keep shirts in a drawer. I will use this method. Thanks! -

I got the blue gold and it looks beautiful. Not sure about the sound. Maybe I need to clean my needle, but there is some background noise that can be really noticeable at higher volume levels. Anyone else? -

Ordered one. You should probably start another thread for this. The Whirr fanboys will buy this up! -
PO: Vaura- The Missing Double LP on Flenser
lexicondevil replied to lexicondevil's topic in Vinyl Collective Message Board
Tried to buy their first album too, but something was wrong with the store. EDIT: The "Wierd" store site is all screwy, not Flenser. -

I made a thread for this release, but since they are relatively unknown and have a Bandcamp... http://hellbear.bandcamp.com/ A thrashier, faster, screamier(?) Motorhead. I don't know, you can probably come up with better current comparisons. HELLBEAR'S Self-Titled debut EP, a 5 song powerhouse set pressed on 'Ultra Clear w/ Blood Red splatter' 45 RPM 12" vinyl w/ digital download. Limited to 250 copies. -
Never heard of these guys and it is a bit expensive. I still bought it though. Refreshingly goth in all the right 80's ways. Vaura - The Missing DLP Pre-saleThe vinyl edition of Vaura's brilliant sophomore release is now up for advanced order. Double LP edition 500 copies. 300 copies on black vinyl. 200 copies on - Cyan haze over Kelly green colored vinyl Comes with a 24"x24" sided poster and a gatefold jacket. Artwork by Terence Hannum. The release date is 3/17/14. Pre-orders are expected to ship before then; however, vinyl manufacturing is unpredictable and delays are always possible. Click here to order. Vaura has perfected a cohesive sound out of a mixture of vastly different genres including ’80’s goth, black metal, and progressive rock. Vaura is an all-star cast of Brooklyn avant grade and metal musicians, featuring Joshua Strawn (Azar Swan) on vocals, Kevin Hufnagel (Gorguts, Dysthymia), drummer Charlie Schmid, and avant-grade cult superstar Toby Driver on bass (Secret Chiefs 3, Kayo Dot, Maudlin of the Well). Despite the often complex musicality of the member's other projects, Vaura’s sound is more streamlined with atmospheric mid-80’s vocals mixed with a hypnotic rhythm section intersected with black metal blast beats, chorus-laden guitars, and synthy overtones. http://youtu.be/YeOWGH4YtEQ

I don't have any of the originals. The kids get to take it all home at the end of the year to hopefully keep. Handwritten pages would look cool. Their writing still trips me out, even after 13 years of doing this. The kids come up with lines that just kill. I just hope they keep the classroom anthology we do every year and read it someday when they are older so they can remember how awesome they were, especially if they've lost their way.
