  1. My girlfriends grandma was the treasurer of the St. Louis jazz club and she had a ton of 78rpm 10"s... I'm hoping we end up with them ultimately, but odds are that they'll go to the college where they started a scholarship in her name. Soulive is indeed awesome. Anybody seen that Sealab 2021 episode with the bebop cola machine? Hilarious!!!
  2. Seems like you could probably sell it for more than 4 bucks, especially if that means more money would go towards the charity.
  3. Mingus... srsly get some Mingus. Impulse is a great label, too. I saw a pretty good jazzy band called Father Figures not long ago. I recommend checking them out. My all time favorite band is Estradasphere and some of their stuff is pretty jazzy. Totally agree with the Art Blakey love and Herbie Hancock has some great older stuff... especially Head Hunters. Oliver Nelson, Cannonball Adderley, Charlie Parker tons of great jazz out there!! Ornette Coleman, Thelonius Monk, Mahavishnu Orchestra on and on.
  4. Comps are cool if they're full of exclusive tunes or are very, very cheap (like 4 bucks)
  5. The email with shipping confirmation said that we were fortunate to get be informed because they'd lost hundreds of order infos... that's why they put a bunch of copies back up for sale that one day. Panicking is totally appropriate.
  6. Got an email from Joyful Noise this morning saying that as a VIP I have access to certain areas of their website... I assume this means that preorder pages are only available to us until 24-48 hours after the initial VIP emails go out.
  7. http://cloudeater.bandcamp.com/album/sun-and-sidearm I'm really digging this band... Check out "Hardly Wait" for a strong single (that's the first song I heard that made me want to look into them), but it's all good. Name your own price, too. They kind of remind me of a poppier So Many Dynamos.
  8. Kings is my fave in the triangle... it's the closest to my house and just the right size. I prob won't be at Wavves (if only it were the awesomer side project Sweet Valley) but I do plan to check out HRVRD.
  9. I couldn't believe that it worked either. I had 8 donuts when I logged back in and a couple of my friends have successfully done this since. I think it actually tracks the number of donuts that you earn clearing debris and leveling up... not sure though.
  10. I snagged this from Best Buy. HUGE thanks for the notice... seems like they'll cancel the orders, but we'll see!
  11. I agree that you need this. Out fucking standing and it's nice to see more Ween love around these parts.
  12. If you're willing to make the relatively short drive to Raleigh there's a bunch of venues there too (Kings (in April there's Red Kross, HRVRD, Beach Fossils, Wavves) Lincoln Theater and a bunch of others)) and Carrboro/Chapel Hill has Local 506 and Cat's Cradle. Both cities have a bunch of tiny clubs too.
  13. Yeah Bull City for records and there's a shop in Bright Leaf square, but make sure you go to Chaz's shop first (Bull City). The Pinhook is good for small shows and drinks (although a disproportionate number of events are LGBT (of course anyone is welcome), I've seen some great shows there and they have a lot of good drink specials) Cosmic Cantina has yummy mexican food, too. Bull City Burgers has good food and they brew their own beer... if you order the burger special your plate comes with a gold top hat on top of it... it took me by surprise the first time I got one! Sometimes Duke Coffee House has shows. Other good show venues are the Casbah and Motorco which is directly across the street from Full Steam brewery and there are tons of food trucks in the area. Near Motorco and FS Brewery is a pretty good restaurant called Geer Street Garden. http://motorcomusic.com/events http://casbahdurham.com/calendar/ http://www.thepinhook.com/ http://www.bullcityrecords.com/ http://www.dukecoffeehouse.org/shows/ http://www.fullsteam.ag/beer/ http://www.bullcityburgerandbrewery.com/Bull_City_Burger_and_Brewery/Home.html
  14. I think the initial post hinted at some extra tracks. I wouldn't expect a ton of extra material, but Opiate is only 27 minutes long... that leaves an awful lot of extra space on a cd.
  15. There was a video on their Facebook page today of art for the Opiate release being printed on a press. It appeared to be an appropriately sized piece of paperboard for a cd... so while does not mean no vinyl release, it's not a positive sign that it will be pressed.
  16. So is this not on Hot Topic's website or did they take it down because there's a sale or something?
  17. Worth the price alone to blow a Crazytown fan's mind when they hear Pretty Little Ditty. C'mon... we all know a Crazytown fan, right?
  18. I was lucky enough to get the coin flip that replaced my ETR variant and not my bundle exclusive variant. I fucking love this label and band! I'll post pics of my coin flip when I get my shit together photo server wise.
  19. I'm very excited about Komeda finally being available on vinyl. This year could get outta hand real quick!
