  1. Goner Records has a bracket. $10 buy in. 50% goes to store credit and the other half goes to a Memphis food bank. http://terminal-boredom.com/forums/index.php?topic=39083.0
  2. Off the top of my head---here are a few of my favorite records Eric Dolphy - Live at the Five Spot Vol. 1 Eric Dolphy - Out to Lunch Miles Davis - Relaxin' With the Miles Davis Quintet Miles Davis - Sketches of Spain Bix Beiderbecke - any Charles Gayle - Repent Charlie Parker - Bird and Diz, the Genius of Charlie Parker Thelonious Monk - Straight No Chaser Thelonious Monk - Monk's Moods
  3. I really dig the track TMR posted. I'm all over this and can't wait to hear the Rodriguez cover.
  4. Based on the research I've done regarding turntables, Marantz made an okay to decent turntable but there many turntables that out perform the Marantz models---especially when considering cost.
  5. You want a vintage turntable with a wood plinth? You should look at Thorens. While Marantz is known for its receivers---not so much for turntables. Same goes for Pioneer. If you're not married to a wooden plinth, I would track down a Technics MKII 1200.
  6. MDC - Millions of Dead Cops After hearing this around '82 or '83, my life would never be the same. This sound and intensity had been what I was looking for without even knowing it. Thirty years later and I still haven't seen them live.
  7. I'm guessing that red will be the more limited of the colors if that matters to anyone. 200 on clear for subscribers 800 on red and 1K each for white and neon---possible breakdown.
  8. Arrrgh. I don't know why Iggy can't make a decent record. He needs Bowie back in his life and maybe Bowie needs Iggy. Make a run at it and see if they can do it sober this time around.

  10. Did anyone else pick up a copy that sounds like shit? Tons of surface noise and drop outs during certain songs.
  11. Just lowered the prices on a bunch of records in my Discogs inventory. Take a look. If you want multiple items, send me an email and we can work out a deal. Early Minor Threat pressing, Melvins, The Strokes, indie, jazz, rock, etc. http://www.discogs.com/seller/streetwaves
  12. Keeping the shrink on doesn't do dick if you're going to play the record.
  13. Considering the rate that Superchunk produces 7"s these days, as opposed to the nineties, I doubt it.

  15. If you're a fan of 70s-pre-hardcore punk, this record is for you. Great live performance by New Zealand's Toy Love captured in 1980. I'm not a huge fan of live releases but somehow, probably the quality of the performance, Live at the Gluepot transcends that for me. Since its arrival---it hasn't strayed far from the turntable. You can grab the limited white vinyl version here. I'm sure there are very few left. http://www.goner-records.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=10150
  16. BFRSD is so much easier than the spring event. Went to one store about an hour and a half before opening and was first in line----not that it mattered because only three people lined up behind me. Picked up Bob Dylan and Stones 7"s and the VU and Love releases. The Love record sounds amazing. Grabbed Death May Be Your Santa LP online. There were a few 10" releases that I was interested in but I hate 10" records.
  17. I know that you said that you wanted original art but here are some prints, non band related, that may interest you. I have bought original art over the years and always wish I had a larger budget. http://store.thefontanastudios.com http://jonathanlevinegallery.com/cfwebstore/index.cfm?category=6
