Bearchuck, you also forgot: Due to the higher fidelity of your new equipment, you start to realize that copy of _________ doesn't sound "AMAZING!!!" like you posted on VC a couple of years previously and you start to seek out better sounding pressings of records you already own.

Biggest surprise of the releases for me is Between The Buried And Me - Anatomy of... I hadn't planned on getting it, but when I saw it sitting on the shelf all by itself with the other leftovers I grabbed it. I finally opened it last night and put it on. I had forgotten that it was a covers album, so I was cautious when I put it on, but I really enjoyed a lot of the covers. they did a really great job on a lot of them. I guess it helps that I know most of the originals very well, but even the songs I didn't know I enjoyed. Some of them were very close to the originals but others strayed a bit, but I never felt like they were trying to hard to either emulate the original or completely rewrite the arrangement either. The cool packaging was also a bonus.

I think it sounds a lot better than the CD. The CD is very congested to me, theis was very nice and a lot less fatiguing.
 
No one seems to be able to produce any proof of a standard black pressing, but that is the rumor. I would guess, if the band is truly in control of this, that they will press more if demand is there. 4000 is a lot, but this was an important album, and is an attractive album to flip. Keep calm, i'm sure the frenzy will die down eventually and the prices will come down.

I am listening to mine, and I have to admit, I thought shaizada's review of being "blown away" was going to be a bit over the top, but I was wrong. While I'm not blown away to the same degree, I am impressed with the sound here. It's anything but flat. Very lively and deep with crazy separation Sometimes too much? the the high hat can end up way outside the sounstage) and sound space for music like this. There also is an organic quality to a lot of the guitar sounds and synths that must have driven shaizada to comment that it sounded very analog. 
 
Over all a very good release. Oh and mine came in very good shape. The super thin vinyl was surprising, but no big deal. Gotta find a way to press these for the cheap complainers.

Hey Jack, please ask United why their pressings are always either off-center, scratched, warped or noisy (or any combination of the same).

Wow, instead of all these little upgrades, you could have just bought a better turntable. If you dont want to pay a lot for all these upgrades, just enjoy your Scout.

I have always felt that live albums are like greatest hits. Put some tracks out that people know and hope they buy it

It's pretty crazy how different each varient of this record is!!!! I think it's best for crazy people to own every pressing!!!!!
 
How it breaks down:
1. The regular weight black version sounds good but kinda plain, normal, you know. Nothing really special about it, but still good. It kind of matches on some parts, but nothing flashy.
2. The clear variant also sounds good. This version has so much space, a real see-through sound. Almost like there is nothing there. The music just floats off the platter and through the needle. Very open and airy. Still great though, of course.
3. The 180 gram sounds good as well. This version definately sounds thicker and weightier.  Just so much more substance, but at the same time almost too much, too big. Like it sometimes won't fit in it's container, you know?
 
Anyway All three are great, but as you can see by my discriptions they are all soooooooooooo different. I don't think a person could possibly open just one and feel like they've received the full Koi No Yokan experience. I'm even thinking that the band must have wanted all three variants to be played at the same time to get the full experience!

Super disappointed that he didn't stick with the foil cover through all the reissues. Maybe the original artwork was lost or had licensing issues? Or maybe it kept the cost down on the double LP? Not a big deal, but I was really looking forward to all the foil covers.

Artwork looks like they are trying to relive the Coming Up days. Admitedly, I'm a fan of that era. Sci-fi Lullabies, Coming Up, and Head Music were great albums.

I checked out Zero and It's pretty bad. I have no problem with IGD and I heard nothing on Oceania. As people have said, no other songs sound this way, just Zero. It's obviously a pressing defect that was overlooked. Probably because it was expensive and would mean delays. Now I just need to make sure i'm in on a replacement program.
Edit: Going through the 1st LP bullet didn't sound so hot either. There were a few times where I thought I heard some distortion. Nothing as obvious or prominent as Zero. I don't agree with Stan Getz decision to spread 12 minutes of music over an entire side of an LP with nearly NO deadwax. I didn't hear any problem with To Forgive, but I would really prefer a smaller tonearm arc to minimize distortion.
