wouldn't be a decent repress of some long sought-after record without a fair amount of complaining, would it?

can't wait until people start complaining about the sound quality of this after they hear 2 seconds of "distortion" on a track

so, i am to understand that i'm being "raped" everytime I buy a record that isn't sold at a minimal mark up?
 
i guess the only safe, non rapey place to buy records is No Idea.  from now on if I spend more than 10 bucks on a record i'll be sure to wear my rape whistle.

Not sure how it is outside of NY, but here I've seen independent stores charging anywhere from 18 to 20-something for new vinyl releases. It's not just internet prices. A lot of stores/distros have to charge that "much" just to break even. Remember when CDs were 18.99? 

id also give a warning to anyone with less than 50 posts who a) starts a thread asking about when (blank) record is being repressed and starts begging for someone to hook them up with a copy of Deja on the cheap.

Maybe it's just me but I don't think $21.99 was that bad for this - a few dollars more than your average new LP, sure, but given the archival work that (theoretically) went into it and limited run nature, I was expecting to pay a little more.
Friday Records post-'Head' Monkees reissues for $29.99+ A piece? That's nonsense. ($30 for fucking 'Pool It!'? Seriously? And I say that as a fan of the record.)
'Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness'? That was price gouging.
This? Making sure you can recoup to bring more records down the line, and if a few extra bucks is going to help assure more releases, I'll go for it.

Got mine at the Amazon.ca pre order price, and it doesn't have any sound issues that I noticed!

still blows my mind though that people would drop 400+ bucks on any record. i don't care if its my favorite record by my favorite band, and only 5 copies were ever pressed. i'd just listen to the cd at that point.

Everyone needs to stop worrying and about how many of this color and how many of that color are out there. Who gives a shit? Just enjoy this damn fine album.
