derby625 reacted to ubernatural in Looking for a Little Sympathy
I brought in a bunch (over 100) of my older records to my local record shop for trade-in credit today, and picked up the following records in exchange (all new):
Jesca Hoop - The House That Jack Built Joanna Newsom - Have One On Me Zero 7 - Simple Things The Kills - Ash & Ice Led Zeppelin - 1st (self-titled), 3-album special edition Tangerine Dream - Ricochet Beth Orton - Trailer Park Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane... Get out of the store, walk 10 paces and the bag handle breaks. Since I was carrying the bag ON MY SHOULDER they all fell from high up, and landed on the sidewalk. Crushed the bottom right corner of every single record. Every. Single. One.
This was one of those re-usable shopping bags that I'm sure has held gallons of milk at a time in the past, and chooses today to break.
vinyl are fine. Listening now, with some tears in my beer.

Totally agree.

derby625 reacted to Velocity of Sound in The Lees of Memory "All-Powerful You" reverse 7"
"All-Powerful You" is a unique, 5 minute psychedelic trip. Only 400 of this 45RPM single were pressed, all on clear vinyl with a special B-Side, "uoY lufrewoP-llA".
Here's the twist, the B-Side is the A-Side played in reverse! The A-Side has backwards instrumentation in the song so when the song is played backwards, on the flip side, elements will sound forward! The B-Side will also literally play backward on your turntable, from the center label out.
One song, two completely different vibes! Both sides are KILLER and both songs stand on their own two legs.
Order here.
Thank you.

So, I guess you were brilliant enough to know about this effect right from the get go? BTW, no one said it was glow in the dark and your summation of what happens basically restated what was already said. Misleading = reading comprehension problem. One thing you are right about, it is cool.

I'm finally getting around to post what my current record area looks like. My wife and I live in a small Miami apartment so this is actually our dining room area too (complete with wine rack). The 7" collection has been moved to a set of shelves in the "office" area of the main room.
My setup has gone through a ton of changes over the years. Here's a look.

2009-2010
2008-2009
2008 and before don't have photos because it was nothing to be excited about. It was a mix of boxes/crappy shelves.

Well, finally got a resolution on a record I shipped to Puerto Rico in September that never made it. Found out it was on a container ship that sank so now it's at the bottom of the ocean.
Luckily the buyer has been super cool and patient. I'm out the dollars but at least it's an interesting story.

Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a place on this forum specifically dedicated to inquiries like yours? We could call it Sale/Trade/Wants and put it right on the main page. And new users could all flip their sealed hot topic vinylz in an organized fashion without having to go through all of the work it takes to find a 9 month old thread. A guy can dream, right?
