Why are you asking us? Why didn't you ask customer service?

Am I the only one who thinks - generally speaking - UK shops and labels ship their stuff in the absolute worst way possible? I think Europe is bad in general, but the UK takes the cake - they're the only ones who constantly use those awful thin brown mailers for singles and LPs, sometimes without even a piece of cardboard inside for support.
 
And even when they do use cardboard mailers or fillers, it seems like it's a kind unique to that island which almost collapses upon itself like an accordion with barely a touch. I swear I've left one of those sitting empty on a counter after getting something mailed to me and within a week it had disintegrated under its own weight.
 
When I order from over there, I pretty much bite my lip and set the expectation that corners will be dinged to hell, at least one seam will be split and at least a few creases will be present on the sleeve. I just keep my fingers crossed the vinyl doesn't get warped - or worse, broken.

Can someone update the first post to reflect the information from Travis? The title says last update was 4/23 (it is actually 4/30) and the text inside says that it was last updated 3/5/14. As a new person coming to find out about the releases it is hard to find the exact post where Travis updates if they aren't reflected on the first page. I bet a lot of people are wondering where Buddha is on the store!

Pretty sure the fact that:
1) Aenema has been OOP on vinyl for almost two decades now,
2) Lateralus has only been pressed as a picture disc, and
3) 10,000 Days never even GOT a vinyl press
 
...means that Tool really doesn't give two shits about vinyl.

The main complaint about the pricing is that everything Newbury has pressed is already available for cheaper. If this, or Fleet Foxes, or Bon Iver, or whatever was out of print and Newbury released these variants no one would be complaining about the prices.

The BFD is that $30+ per record could become the norm for all releases.  Even a couple years ago, $18 or less was average for a lot of releases, now most are initially sold at $22+.  Obviously inflation and economics come into play here, but $30 is a lot of money for one album.  There's nothing wrong with supporting a (local) business, but there is a difference between honest mark-up and price gouging.  Newbury has the game down for sure, and they are selling out of all of their limited releases.  Good for them, but I hope the trend does not spread to other stores.

The idea that Newbury Comics is independent is a little misleading. It's like calling Boston Beer Company a "craft brewery." Sure, technically they are, but the difference between the little guys and them is almost as large as between them and the big boys.
 
That isn't to say Newbury Comics (or Boston Beer Company, for that matter) doesn't do a lot to help the industry and that their success doesn't trickle down to smaller players, but when I walk into one of the high-rent Newbury Comics mall locations full of clothing, shoes and Hunger Games merchandise I'm sure not thinking I'm helping a struggling mom and pop record store.

Anyone have free time this evening?  I am going to Best Buy and going to walk around and yell out to everyone around anything I see that is "over priced".

Got mine today, sounds alright.  No worse than the cd.  Most of the music from this era that came from Victory had a lot to desire in the mastering department. 
 
Another example... Tell All Your Friends is a good album, but I can't stand to listen to it anymore because of the poor quality.  There is a high frequency (about 16kHz) that rings in the background of most of the vocals.  Once you notice it, it never goes away.

My guess is this will not be gone by the end of the week.

I have trouble seeing why anybody should care. The word "audiophile," as I mentioned earlier, is completely watered down by this point. It should really truly only mean those people for whom sound quality is something they pursue in their life to the point of being an obsessive hobby.
 
I love music, I have a pretty sweet record collection, I want things to sound good, but if I have a setup that sounds good to my ears, why should I give a shit if someone else says it's not good enough? And why should anybody else get their panties in a bunch over the gear that I like to use?
 
I can't remember if it was in this thread, or on another board, but somewhere I saw some discussion about people saying, "I just hate the idea of people buying these and going on about how great their system sounds." Something like that, in short. And I can't help but wonder why in the god damn ever loving hell anybody should give a shit! It's like when you bring up Beats by Dre gear to tr00 audiophiles. You wanna see a dude blow his top...
 
All that said, I don't have the money to throw at this right now. If I did, I'd consider it as a "bedroom" turntable. I'm one of those terrible non-audiophile types that likes having an auto return on my turntable, though, and this one doesn't have it. Because I like to listen to my records as I fall asleep sometimes.
 
God bless audiophiles, though. Someone has to be concerned about audio quality, as more and more people seem to accept shittier and shittier sounding music these days.
