  1. Late Phases was a lot of fun. Wyrmwood is a great watch and I highly recommend it. Regarding current Netflix, here are some great views I've posted about in the past: - Housebound - Babadook - Creep - The Guest - Would You Rather - Zombeavers - The Sacrament - Starry Eyes - 100 Bloody Acres All of the mentioned flicks were really enjoyable
  2. Music? I'm giving it up, you can't get me back on the game. I've got eight days til retirement and I will not make a stupid mistake.
  3. I worked and went to school full-time the entire time I was in my undergrad. Generally, it's hard to find a job that offers a. Great pay b. Flexible schedule and c. Part-time hours and d. Isn't retail. You usually have to choose a couple of those qualities, while leaving one out. In my last two years I sold phones. It wasn't optimal, but my boss was great about working around my inconsistently obnoxious school schedule and I made pretty good money. I recommend building a strong resume and chatting it up with businesses you like. Good luck to you!
  4. Sweat by Ronnie Glenn Williams I make it myself. In all honesty, I rotate between Polo Red, Acqua di Gio, and a couple different Penguin brand scents. Of those, the Red is my favorite.
  5. I've been dying to watch Creep (Mark Duplass) and caught it via Netflix tonight. I was not let down. For those of you that dig creepy flix, Creep definitely delivered.
  6. Started watching Wet Hot American Summer on Netflix and I'm so disappointed at how awful it is. I loved the movie, but it seems like the characters just don't lend themselves well to a series format. Finally watched Whiplash last night and I now understand the hype surrounding it. What a great flick with killer energy and a stellar soundtrack to boot.
  7. Had the truffle fries last week and they were killer
  8. Ah, the Highlander approach. "There can be only one!"
  9. A few things: 1. LA is a strange place, especially if you've come to rely on the public transit system in Chicago. Have you considered NY? 2. I moved to one of the most expensive cities in the country (DC) after living in a town where my rent was $350 a month, so cost of living is terrifying when moving. 3. Speaking from experience, 4k isn't going to get you very far at all, especially if that's what's paying for an apartment, moving expenses, etc. I would definitely double that prior to making your exit. 4. I mean none of these things in a negative way, and really do hope you move somewhere you love
  10. Craigslist had too many limitations on how many pictures of my junk I posted. It was just too complicated.
  11. The hobby is right! Though I don't agree with buying multiple copies of a record with the sole intention of selling them for a profit, I have sold records for more than what I've paid. If it's a record that I no longer want or listen to, I generally just trade it off for something I will, without taking a record's 'value' into account; however, I have sold records on eBay for a profit because I needed to buy food since I was jobless for the first 6 months after moving to DC.
  12. 1. Open store 2. Only play music nobody but yourself has heard before 3. Wear t-shirt of obscure metal band that put out one record on a label that no longer exists 4. This is the most important step, so pay attention here- make sure to never, under no circumstances, say hello to a customer or offer assistance as they browse your store. If possible, face opposite direction of customer. Bonus points of this is paired with you eating either pizza or a burrito. 5. Purchase mansion with indoor pool to store the piles of money you will be swimming in, Scrooge McDuck style
  13. Like others have said- I buy records to listen to, not to look at the spines on a shelf. Having 10 copies of a record does me no good when I only need 1 to listen to. Not to bag on collectors- do yo' thang shorty. It just isn't for me.
  14. That trailer looks pretty intense. I'm pretty glad that Ethan Embry has jumped head first into the horror genre and is now a cast member of The Walking Dead.
  15. Shai Hulud "Hearts..." Was recorded when Chad was 16, and that's a pretty killer album
  16. The situation definitely sucks; however, after all the times this has happened over the last five years, how do bands still not consider having insurance a priority when touring?
  17. i highly doubt anyone here is needing this, but I have a ticket to the Foo Fighters anniversary show tomorrow at RFK stadium tomorrow, so I figured I'd try here. Something came up and I can't make it. Looking for 50.
  18. Also late to the game, but Mad Max may have been the greatest action flick I've ever seen, if not one of the top ten movies on my list
  19. Ah, CDs. I was so naive to think I would love my 2,000 CD collection forever. So young, so dumb. I have 30 or so hanging around in a box somewhere, and I just found an As Cities Burn CD demo hiding in a box the other day.
