  3. :: PRE-ORDER :: CATACOMBE "scintilla" LP (NAR076) Before everything. Before computers, smartphones, wi-fi and social networks. Before satellites, planes, cars. Before the industrial revolution, the agricultural revolution. Even before the first societies. Let us travel back in time, before we even conceived the idea of time, before we met the sun and moon, day and night. And before fire. What do we find? The sparkle. The scintilla that human used to create fire. The first flash, and therefore, the first inspiration. In a way, “Scintilla” – the album – is Catacombe’s first. With its renewed sound - redefining post-rock with deeper harmonies and hypnotic, unpredictable rhythms – there are heartwarming breaches of light cutting through the massive walls of sound. There are echoes of suspending melodies, side by side with vigorous, evolving landscapes. There’s light and obscurity dwelling in deep resonance, inviting us to self-redefinition. It appears maybe too long after their last, “Quidam”, of 2014. It appears after individual and collective growth, after labour, after sleep, after laughter and tear. It appears when those who compose it are not the same as five years ago, even if the past feels near. And it arises, harshly, to teach us a valuable lesson: that there is no darkness that can withstand the faintest of glares, there is no room that does not light up with the faintest of lamps. Recorded and produced by Daniel Valente, at the Caos Armado studio and CCMP, mixed by Falk Andreas at Blank Room Audio, Berlin, and mastered by James Plotkin (Isis, OLD, Khanate), "Scintilla" leads us back to that primordial moment when man discovers fire, so that millions of years later a band can discover the course, or the maturity. The light, or the dawn. The morning star, the same one that is given to those who triumph. And, needless to say, "Scintilla" - and Catacombe - have triumphed. Fiat lux. 4. A day I assumed would never come. No information yet, other than this. There will be a show on Sat Aug 24th, and per Trish the vinyl will be available at the show and online. No other gigs are announced either - trying to get them on Post. Festival in Indiana Oct 4/5. Stay tuned!
  5. Will be self-released by the band. They are genuinely great guys making great music. The PO is up for their new LP over at bandcamp and will be limited to 300 copies. Take a listen to their past releases too. https://oftenthethinker.bandcamp.com/album/greatest-possible-tenderness Official press release: Hello, everyone - We’re happy to announce that our fourth LP, Greatest Possible Tenderness, is now available for preorder! The album will be available on vinyl, as well as digital downloads. The expected release date is July 5th. GPT took over two years to finish and we are extremely proud of it. I pulled together our group of musicians from all over the country to bring these ideas to life. It was a juxtaposition of emotions at times, both an intense struggle and feelings of extreme elation. I hope that this collection of music resonates with you as it does with us. I initially jumped into the world of vinyl to listen to older records as they were intended to, i.e. a lot of jazz, country, funk, etc. While the aesthetic and feel of vinyl is intriguing, what I found is that it forces you to really sit down with your decision - it allows you to take in the record as it was intended to be heard, as well as enjoying the artwork and visuals of the record. As GPT was written in two parts, it seemed only fitting to have this pressed on vinyl. Any support of purchasing this record would make all the time, effort and money that went into this album worth it. Thank you to everyone who was involved in this album, as well as any of you who preorder a copy of it. It means the world to us. -Often the Thinker *All vinyl preorders include a digital download code of the album and a CD of our previous album (while albums last), Better Part of Vice.

  7. Next Elusive Sound pre-order cycle begins soon! There will be 2 releases. TRNA will NOT be coming now. You should know what the other release is; it'll be officially announced Sunday/Monday. Bruit - Monolith. FFO: Arms and Sleepers. I literally don't know any other artists like this. "We're happy to announce our next pre-order cycle with this great, first variant of Bruit's EP! Presented in a heavyweight gatefold featuring the first use of spot UV ever for Elusive Sound, this 180g-vinyl LP shows off the endless possibilities of color combinations. Be sure to grab one - only 150 ever made! Pre-Orders will go live Friday, 29 March 2019 20:00 CET on www.elusive-sound.com Once again, THIS IS NOT A MOCK-UP. These are real pictures. This is the standard variant. Deluxe will come tomorrow I'm assuming. I will be handling a group buy for these 2 releases. PM me for pricing details, as we only have a week to get this arranged! 8. FINALLY! The new Paint the Sky Red album is available on 180g black vinyl (/300) and the album is available for listening now. I will be doing a small group buy for this as it will help us save significantly on shipping (1 record starts at $25 and increases only $5 for each one after that. I'd like 2-3 more people to join up) FFO: This Patch of Sky, Of the Vine, Immanu El So far, my favorite track is "Amber", track 2. It's got their signature super-happy and upbeat sense of melody coupled with some cool loops and really energetic drums. I like it a lot! From Bandcamp: This is the very first time we are releasing an album on 12" vinyl. Limited quantities are available and we have no intention to restock. Each piece will be hand-packed and numbered by us with lots of love and gratitude. In a world of digital piracy which heavily affects independent bands like us, it speaks volumes if you choose to purchase our music in the best manner. Show your support; own a physical copy of our hard work. Thank you. - Nurazman, Hakim, Yasser & Fahmi - https://painttheskyred.bandcamp.com/album/there-is-a-tomorrow-you-dont-know
  9. OLD SOLAR - SEE [2xLP] Releases January 18th, 2019, by A Thousand Arms Music, and dunk!records. SEE by Old Solar on double 180g colored vinyl with special screen printed D side. Comes in reverse cardboard cover with design by Flesh And Bone. Available in two vinyl color editions: A Thousand Arms: gold in black (150 copies) dunk!records: gold with orange/yellow splatter (150 copies) (PICTURES ARE NOT MOCK-UPS - these are the actual records) FFO: Mono, Spurv, PG.Lost, The End of the Ocean FIRST LISTEN - check out "Winter Solstice: Hallow the Hushed Earth" exclusively at Dunk!zine, with copy by my very good friend David. https://dunkzine.com/home/2018/12/28/old-solar-winter-solstice-hallow-the-hushed-earth-song-premiere?fbclid=IwAR0j4k9_A4zDKp1yBd4yL72-9hXELDDLmqrbf6G0O3Tpec8OiGUTZ0xOidA It's been a while since I've been this excited about a new post-rock release! The band takes the meloncholy melody of Silent Whale, Mono and Spurv and mixes it with the bad-ass head-bang riffery of The End of The Ocean, PG.Lost, or even Tides of Man. I find myself getting the melody to Hushed Earth stuck in my head for hours. https://dunkrecords.com/products/old-solar-see-2xlp https://athousandarms.store/collections/oldsolar/products/old-solar-see-2xlp
  10. https://shop.napalmrecords.com/oh-hiroshima-resistance-is-futile-black-lp-gatefold.html 300 copies, black vinyl. Not sure if 180g or not. This album is just as good as their sophmore release "In Silence We Yearn" imo, so I'm very psyched to have this. "In Silence We Yearn" has also been repressed, and is available again on black vinyl /300 in gatefold just like this. My 1st press of that album has some sound issues, so I'm wondering if this new pressing has a better quality. https://ohhiroshima.bandcamp.com/album/resistance-is-futile

  12. Available from Bandcamp! Post-rock from Lucerne, Switzerland. The band has no bio or description on Facebook or Bandcamp, but their sound is rooted in post-rock and shoegaze with vocals. FFO: Immanu El, Oh Hiroshima, Marriages, the newest Ancestors record. My favorite songs are "Sailor" and "Useless and Deceptive" but the whole album is without a weak track. 180g black in gatefold. https://arivercrossing.bandcamp.com/album/sediment I have been given a group-buy discount from the band, and I have one spot left. $30ppd to your door. 15. https://elusive-sound.com/glasir-release-new-dark-age/ Elusive Sound proudly presents “New Dark Age“, the long-awaited debut album from American post-rock/post-metal trio Glasir. Recorded and mixed by Sam Striker at Native Darkness Productions and mastered by Randy Cordner at Beast Mansion, “New Dark Age” is the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2015 EP “Unborn”, the very first Elusive Sound release. This incredible 3-piece from Dallas, Texas, have crafted a powerfully evocative album where their heavy siege cannon is unleashed and blasts us into a blackened world, where sound resonates in decayed city shells and life submerges in stagnant pools of death. We are one with the shadows hidden midst the smoke hung in a haze that ascends hollow towering walls of steel. It obscures a blood red sun we cannot see yet feel it’s oppressive heat searing down like the breath of hell. This is our tomorrow, a new dark age. Featuring full artwork by Alex CF, “New Dark Age” will be released by Elusive Sound digitally on August 31 and on vinyl at a date yet to be announced. Full album out now, available for download and streaming: https://glasir.bandcamp.com/album/new-dark-age Vinyl TBD, but keep an eye here for group-buy information. I will be conducting the Deluxe group-buy from Elusive themselves, and A Thousand Arms will be getting the non-deluxe variants for USA residents. You can always get a non-deluxe in the group-buy from me to guarantee a copy. As with all Elusive Sound releases, this will sell out, and it will be incredible. Stay tuned!
  16. Invisible City is the 10th studio album from China’s leading instrumental rock band WANG WEN, whose international audience has grown tremendously since 2016’s critically acclaimed album Sweet Home Go!; a dark, bleak and melancholic sonic journey. It comes as a bit of a surprise that Invisible City has a much warmer overall feel to it, and even more so since the album was recorded at Sundlaugin studios in Iceland in January… not exactly a warm place. “We are a group of people who are always affected by the surrounding environment”, comments guitarist Xie Yugang. “There was a small river running outside the recording studio in Iceland. We recorded our album during the coldest time in Iceland, but because of its special geothermal resources, that small river didn’t freeze. When we looked at it from afar, it seemed to be enveloped in a shroud of water vapor. That small river made a lasting impression on me somehow, it became a symbol for hope”. WANG WEN are hailing from Dalian, a grim city in the North of China where large groups of young people currently move away towards more prosperous regions of booming China… a depressive environment, as Yugang confirms. Invisible City is WANG WEN‘s proud and conscious statement against the all-surrounding depression, and also to some degree a declaration of loyalty towards their home: it is an album full of hope. The recordings of Invisible City were completed once again under the supervision of Belgian producers Wouter and Lode Vlaminck, with whom the band had worked with already on the previous album. „This time we had a deeper understanding of each other”, Yugang says, “and we trust each other deeply. Before we got to Iceland, we exchanged ideas on how to record the album, in hopes that everyone would be able to bring their own feelings regarding Iceland and this particular studio into a sort of re-creation process while recording in the studio.” This worked out well, the entire album was recorded within 10 days only. “Even though we had to work for over 12 hours a day, we didn’t feel tired. In an atmosphere like that, we made an album that evokes a feeling of warmth as we were hoping for, despite the polar nights outside of the studio walls”, Yugang concludes. The artwork of Invisible City was done by award-winning Chinese illustrator CEN JUN, who lives in New York. When the band approached him, the artist confessed to being a big fan of WANG WEN, who have been selling out 1500-capacity venues across China on their recent tour. Cen Jun, who has worked for GQ, Vogue and the NY Times, created 4 exclusive paintings for Invisible City, perfectly complementing the works of a band that take outstanding care not only of their music, but also of the visual and haptic aspects of their art. https://pelagic-records.com/wang-wen-to-release-invisible-city/

Everything Was Black And White Except The City Lights 2. Ashes Fall Like Snowflakes, Burying The Sea Fog variant limited to /300 $23.17 ppd in the US. https://www.whiskeyandwaxrecords.com/store/*PRE-ORDER*-I-Hear-Sirens-EP-10th-Anniversary-Edition-p104993959 Check them out on Bandcamp: https://ihearsirens.bandcamp.com/album/i-hear-sirens-ep These guys are a new discovery for me, and it's strange that they don't get more discussion! I find them to be very good, a solid mixture of PG.Lost, Maybeshewill, and some touches of Mono in a very uplifting, positive format. The final track is probably my favorite.
  18. I haven't noticed any limited options but havent looked too hard yet. Stream is sounding pretty promising so far: https://planningforburial.bandcamp.com/album/quietly-2018-lp "Vinyl will ship in June. After the release of his debut album, Leaving (2010), Planning for Burial’s Thom Wasluck wrote and recorded a series of EPs that have become collectively known as Quietly. It was a tumultuous time in Wasluck’s life, and the songs he composed reflect the intense feelings of longing and jealousy that he was experiencing. As the title suggests, these tracks are more restrained in approach than the work which preceded them. They are also set apart from much of Wasluck’s other output by their recording process, which was largely done live with few or no overdubs in order to properly capture every emotion in its rawest state. For almost a decade, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania-based musician Thom Wasluck has been releasing his signature gloomy dirges under the name Planning for Burial at a nearly relentless pace. He now has three full-length albums (most notably 2017’s monumental Below the House) under his belt as well as countless EPs and splits. The Quietly sessions took place between 2011 and 2012 and will be available for the first time on vinyl from The Flenser. This new version includes a song that was previously only issued on a floppy disc as well as an unreleased track from the same era. This collection was remastered specifically for this vinyl release by Nicholas Wilbur (Mount Eerie) at The Unknown. "
  19. It features a special base color configuration on clear and milky vinyl, with splatter in various colors. Of course on 180 - 200g vinyl and kept in a heavy gatefold sleeve. Check back tomorrow for another grand reveal! Full media release means vinyl as well as CD. 33rpm. EDIT: Here is the limited variants (!) Finally, we are happy to present Requiem by Silent Whale Becomes A Dream in the prime variant: Featuring a 100% Swiss made bookcase-style sleeve of the highest quality, made of buckram and carton with hot foil lettering and numbering. The heavyweight product houses the gatefold sleeve and LPs and displays the albums cover and title. There will be 50 additional LPs available without the bookcase sleeve and slightly alternate vinyl color configuration (see images for details). These editions feature a vinyl color combination of special Aside-Bside vinyl with splatter, with a weight of 180-200g while being housed in a heavyweight gatefold sleeve.
  20. Finally!!! From Facebook: Our second full length album, Myra, will be released on Fysisk Format, May 31! Pre-order at Platebutikken Tiger: bit.ly/Myra_Pre-order Digital pre-order at: spurv.bandcamp.com/album/myra The album is a wordless exploration of the enigma of existence through intense and melodic music, noisy drones, orchestral clusters and emotional post rock/metal. Myra is Norwegian for “the marsh.” The album includes musical contributions from among others Ole-Henrik Moe/Kari Rønnekleiv and Tore Ylvisaker/ Ole Alexander Halstensgård (Ulver). Recorded in Malabar Studio by Martin Bowitz (Cold Mailman) and Rajneesh Yrjö-Jurkka Piirakka Maneesh/Emil Nikolaisen (Serena-Maneesh (Official)), mixed by Bowitz and Jørgen Smådal Larsen. Mastered by Magnus Lindberg Productions (Cult of Luna). The album cover is painted by our dear friend Christer Karlstad. Stay tuned, already next week we’ll release the first single of the album: “og ny skog bæres frem” There are 2 variants: Black and a LTD "dual color" black/grey A-side/B-side. No word on whether they are 180g yet. Tigernet prices: Standard black - 18.6 euros (22.92 usd via google - 25.58usd via Bandcamp) LTD - 21.2 euros (26.12 usd via google - 28.15usd via Bandcamp) USA fans: I will be conducting a group-buy with this album! I am trying to tally some numbers because Bandcamp lets us get unlimited number of Myra for only 16.45usd but if you try adding Skarntyde and Blader Som Faller, it adds those records' individual shipping prices to the total without a discount. If we go from Tigernet, we are limited to 6 records at 17.7 euros because adding more jumps us to 40 euros. I have messages out to the band regarding their Bandcamp shipping, and will report back when they have a chance to look into the issue. Send me a message if you'd like to join in!

  25. There's only 300 of these bad boys on translucent red wax. Sounds like a perfect mix of downtempo jazz-style post-rock bands like The Drift, early Efterklang and a druggy Ninja Tune act. Kudos to the guys at SlyVinyl for making me aware of this. Check out the link. By track 4, I bought my copy. https://bedlamtapes.bandcamp.com/album/spring-rain
