VC's 30 Days of Fright! Film Festival 2 (2015)

Recommended Posts

That looks very grim, I can't wait!

It's a pretty rough flick, super intense & violent. In my top 5 or 10 best horror movies.

I already mentioned it to noalarm to make note for peeps in the club, but only the Unrated version is worth watching. The R rated is heavily censored. Also, should only be viewed in it's original French language (cuz dubbed shit sux)

Hahaha, no.... though I enjoyed that one (mostly cuz of Key). It's this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0856288/?ref_=nv_sr_5

Key is by far the best part of Hell Baby. I'm actually mad he wasn't just in every scene.

Stitches was ok, but I wasn't crazy about it. I really liked some of the practical effects they used* but not so much the CGI.

*specifically the

exploding head scene

Wasn't a huge fan of Poughkeepsie Tapes...My wife and I were really bored honestly...I hope I don't come off as a douche by saying that but I felt like I spent the whole time waiting for something to happen and she fell asleap halfway through which KeepDoubting will tell you is a common occurance...

I was on board pretty much until I saw him in the Phantom of the Paradise mask and cape making that girl call herself slave...that was a little silly. Also, I feel like If I would have seen this in like 2008 I would have loved it. I don't know if it is because I am getting old or because I feel like I have seen better found footage movies that it just didn't work for me...

Stitches on the other hand...fucking brilliant!!

Felt the exact same way about the killer during this scene which threw me off for the rest of the movie. The killer became a pathetic loser in my mind, and I would have been better off not seeing that and kept thinking he was an intelligent killer which is way more scary.  Also, a lot of the found footage was un-watchable so that put me off. I did still enjoy the movie, or rather appreciate the whole aspect of it, but I wanted it to be scarier and more off putting then what it was.

The killer had no personality and that's what got me. They are talking about him like he is the best killer in the world and he's just so boring.

Well Boils and Ghouls, Stiches the clown sure got the point of the film didn't he? (He He He He)

Tonight's sordid tale is a classic of horror and a really fun one to boot.

John Carpenter's The Thing from 1982 as selected for you by JonRawks

Without it we wouldn't have one of the best X-files episodes "Ice"!

It's available on Google Vudu and Amazon.

If you've seen it before the 2011 remake is streaming on netflix as well.

Tonights the night for pumpkin beers and the thing!

Watched Texas Chainsaw (2013), Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer, and Day of the Dead today. TC was fucking garbage. I'd never seen Henry, but I was expecting it to be a lot more graphic. The violence that was there was blunt and brutal, but I was expecting it to be way bloodier based on it's reputation. The whole movie just made me uneasy and that was a hell of a fucking ending.

Day of the Dead just owns. The gore is just so fucking...neat. Like a lot of modern day horror is insanely gory but also mean spirited and disturbing. I just hate the whole torture porn thing. But the gore is Day of the Dead is just "FUCK YEAH! LOOK AT THAT SHIT!"

Gonna get one more movie in tonight. Kinda want to watch The Thing to keep up with this thread, but the shit taste Texas Chainsaw left in my mouth makes me want to watch the original. I'm a little drunk so it's entirely possible I just put on something random.

My friends and I were super fucking high when we saw The Mist. The ending had us laughing so hard we couldn't breathe. We got really dirty looks from everyone else leaving the theater.

Don't forget, Darabont also cowrote Nightmare on Elm Street 3 and The Blob remake! He also did the screenplay adaptations for Stephen King's Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile. He also owns the rights to SK's Long Walk which he says he'll get to "someday"
