Guest Admin
Something hit me while reading some of the threads. Would you be interested in having a non-Ebay outlet to sell your records? Ebay is great for certain things, but their seller fees continue to go up and the Ebay marketplace is getting more and more crowded. My idea is a pretty simple one. Set up a section in the Vinyl Collective store for selling used vinyl. When you have releases you want to sell, you fill out an excel spreadsheet with the info and email a photo. You set the price you want, and when it sells, you ship the record. Vinyl Collective processes the payment and when the buyer has received their record, VC will pay you. VC would take a small percentage, but it would be well worth it as your for sale records would be accessible to all of the Vinyl Collective customers. I would like your feedback. This would not be incredibly hard for me to set up, but I won't spend the time to do so if everyone thinks it is a terrible idea. thanks for your suggestions. riddle350
Yeah I think it would be amazing. I posted something about a craigslist style section but this sounds so much better. Plus since you help to gauruntee delivery and payment people wouldn't have to worry about getting ripped off.
xunspokenliesx
I think it's a good idea...
hickey
Great idea...but one issue I have with sites hosting sales is that often the records are not longer available...take Amazon marketplace for example, I've tried to order dozens of LPs from there only to get an email a week later saying it was out of stock or that they meant to post it as a CD. robotnerd
that's a really great idea. however, i'd be careful on your end. maybe have a rule that no one can sell records you have for sale already? with such limited stock, it's entirely possible the label could decide to list their own records for a lower price than you're selling them, thus cutting into your sales directly. kyle
As long as things would be sold in real-time, I'm all for it. The main drawback would be paying for things that have already sold and being disappointed to find out they're gone.
benchwarmer
I'm very much down with this. I'm too lazy to put everything on eBay. Takes too long. This seems much more chill
aarondanger
That would rule!
scottheisel
So it's sort of like half.com for records. I'm totally down.

destroyingthescene
Sounds like a decent plan. Only drawback I see is that folks here will probably realize the value of certain records, therefore making it harder to get sweetheart deals that you can occasionally find on eBay, but I think that's just me being a cheap-ass.
