Am I missing something? the entire side doesn't necessarily have to be etched. the etching can only take up a portion of the side. if i recalled correctly, Boris' "Vein" album had etchings on the outer portion of the record while the music was pressed on the inner portion of the record. The cost to the distros and stores is pretty high. $40 is a little high but considering what they are paying for this, its not that much.
