downisthenewup87
Hey guys, I've read on several forums that the Parlaphone versions of Radiohead releases are the way to go...and I wound up tracking down a fairly priced UK Ok Computer that sounds excellent. However, the Parlaphone Hail to the Thief has been more elusive and is substantially more expensive on sites like discogs (30 + shipping from Europe). Does anyone here have the Capitol version of Hail to the Thief and, if so, are you content with the sound quality? Go Hastings is having a huge sale right now and I'm considering splurging b/c the Capitol release would only cost me like 13 bucks + shipping. Thanks in advance. tetsuodaironman
My 2008 Capitol pressing sounds great, so for $13 you will be winning all the way and saving yourself the pain of searching for what may be a marginal difference in sound quality. itsgoodtobefree
Parlophone Hail to the Thief sounds better but it isn't a massive difference like OK Computer is Go for it

Cloudsbelow
its pretty much just ok/kida/amnesiac that you should only settle for the eu/uk parlophone pressings... httt is fine on capitol and then splurge for the 45rpm pressings of in rainbows and tkol. joefuckingtoilet
museummouth
The 45rpm In Rainbows is one of the best sounding LPs I own. I have a Parlophone HTTT and it's great.
Cloudsbelow
parlophone amnesiac is one of the best sounding albums.. as close to zero compression as you'll find in the modern recorded world. jumps out of the speakers at you, BOO! joefuckingtoilet

downisthenewup87
Thanks for all the feedback guys. Unfortunately the code refused to work on HttT... but at least now the Capitol will suffice.
downisthenewup87
Oh. How does the Capitol Bends sound? For some reason, the coupon works on it... so it'd be 12 bucks.
highfives
I don't have the Parlaphone to compare it to, but mine sounds fine. Nothing incredible, but it's solid.
Cloudsbelow
yeah capitol is fine for bends.. know what, I dont even really like HTTT and radiohead is my JAM! okay, i like it but its one of their lesser albums, imo.
Shelby
The Parlophone version doesn't have that ugly black rectangle with the band name and title on the cover. Worth it for that, plus it sounds better (if ever so slightly)

kannibal
Parlophone HTTT easily beats the U.S. Capitol in comparison. The MP3 rip I downloaded of the P sounded better than C pressing. I own both. It's not night and day, but the difference is there.
highfives
This thread has made me start looking for the rest of the Parlaphone versions of the albums. Does anyone have experience with the original Parlaphone pressings compared to the Parlaphone reissues?
YouTwo
I'm currently looking to get a copy of OK Computer. After reading this, I guess I should be looking for the Parlophone release.
YouTwo
The version of OK Computer on Amazon.com says the lable is Parlophone. I don't know if I believe that or not. I thought US Releases were through Capitol.
itsgoodtobefree
I am almost certain that if you order from the U.S. you will get a Capitol version I ordered one from Amazon UK last year and got an incredible sounding Parlophone pressing
YouTwo
I was thinking of ordering from Amazon UK. But it had the labeled listed as "Mute". But it doesn't seem like you can trust that.

YouTwo
Can get OK Computer from Amazon.co.uk for around $28 USD. Only a few bucks more than the US pressing. May need to pull the trigger on this.
bossdj26
i have a copy of the capitol hail to the thief i'll let go for cheap...bought the parlaphone off a member here the capitol had a lot of noise and distortion during some sides...really shitty quality control or they let the plates run too long, imo my kid a had the same issue on side C...have no complaints about my capitol amnesiac though...sounds fantastic
Shelby
have no complaints about my capitol amnesiac though...sounds fantastic That pressing is terrible compared to the Parlophone one and nobody who has heard them will disagree
