Guest genericinsight
I always thought of power pop as more so heavy pop rock, if that makes sense. Ala early Goo Goo Dolls, The Caulfields....
goraiders
I think of power pop as stuff like The Stereo, more bouncy, where pop punk like blink 182 is faster and (usually) more immature

sgoodcore
bands VC likes = emo.bands VC doesnt like = punk. You'd be hard pressed to find a single emo band in existence today.
jimmythescumbag
(Pop punk) - (punk) + ("power") = power pop I think Ramones, Screeching Weasel, The Queers, etc. when I think of pop punk. I would agree that Weezer (1st two albums) has the power pop element working for them, and I wanna say the Replacements as well, but it may be a kind of gray area that leans more to the punk side.
