¯\_(ツ)_/¯
and by they, i mean any player who signed an enormous contract in the last year or two. that any contracts that drop significantly in the final years are being talked about as they were made to get around the cap

Yeah thanks for that even though I was hoping to see Zach in a blueshirt (knew it was very slim to none)

Even though its what we did with Richards, I didnt even want to sign him for that long. I really hope long front loaded contracts like that stop. It kinda ruins the game. I can understand for players who are home grown and the face of your franchise like Crosbitch or Stamkos, but Brad Richards, Kovalchuk, and Parise getting long term deals like that is just dumb. BuzzersonKillwell
Seems like good momentum for a deal. Hopefully they can get something done soon. And hopefully the agreement runs for a number of years.
KennyFuckingPowers
I feel we may see one by the end of next week the latest. Its just a shame it took this long for both sides to get in a room to negotiate.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
contract will be for 5 - 7 years when it gets done
IanRees
Definitely be prepared for more than 5, the league won't want any hiccups with the centennial season in 2017

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Dredger is seriously annoying on twitter. I understand Fehr sending that out to the players and it was bound to leak, but he's gone out of his way to undermine the Union by trying to "scoop" the details of whats being negotiated. KennyFuckingPowers
I respect the TSN guys. Someone has to report hockey news on television in this world...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
THIS is undermining the NHLPA by this bullshit, not some memo that TSN.CA posted a day or two ago, this was from before any negotiation meetings were put in place this week. dude is a class a troll. Darren Dreger @ DarrenDreger Not to say the players are caving...they're not, but they want focus to remain on negotiations and away from petty memos to media. Expand Reply Retweet Favorite 3 Nov Darren Dreger @ DarrenDreger I'm certain of this, based on number of texts received from players. They want a deal and want their leadership to focus on getting it done. Expand 3 Nov Darren Dreger @ DarrenDreger For the record, it was a player related source who provided the tip and the NHL reluctantly confirmed the story just before 6pm Fri. Expand 3 Nov Darren Dreger @ DarrenDreger Rather than criticize language of reports, PA leadership would be better served working on ways to make a deal for its players. Expand 3 Nov Darren Dreger @ DarrenDreger Formal or otherwise, the fact the owners are willing to cover the costs of Make Whole is in play. I'm surprised D.Fehr isn't more pleased. BuzzersonKillwell
So things aren't looking great. I was pretty optimistic about getting some resolution and games in December. I'm starting to feel less sure about a season.

michaelmanfredi
Yep. Looks like it's a little too late now. Its a shame, I feel like last season was big year for the NHL for gaining new fans

This is anecdotal (at best) but I had like 4 good friends really follow the Bruins for the first time last season. This is such a fucking bummer.
