themean
New Jersey State Planning Commission drop their second album, "And They Are Growing", their first for Jade Tree. After their respective high school melodic emo bands broke up, these four guys in sweater vests formed NJSPC to expand their musical boundaries. Heavily influenced by Promise Ring and Jimmy Eat World, NJSPC's new album offers soaring melodies and songs exploring their deep emotional turmoil and the loss of the bassist's dog "Enigk." themean
Thirty years after her first album, beloved soft-country artist Laura Eckart, now a grandmother, has put together this three piece band, I'm Just A Kid, for the specific purpose of writing songs that her young grandkids would love. Her band, Joe Bob Jones on washboard, Jimmy Ray Young on stand up bass, and Eckart on banjo and vocals, has written "Children To Speak It" with the idea that children speak the truest truth, and we can all learn from this. themean
The debut from Scotstoun Primary School, "The Quality Of Imagination", is an album's worth of purely sampled music. Dr. Tetrahedron and Bob the Stratisfier have created a masterpiece built fully on samples from 90s Scandinavian techno records.
themean
"Other People's Secret Virtues" is the debut album from Small Town Romance, an amazing band of kids fresh out of high school. This album is heavily influenced by old-school emo such as Saves The Day and All-American Rejects, as well as all the members virginity. Small Town Romance is hoping to change that last fact by writing an album of cute, sad songs about the girl who sat two seats over from the guitarist in English class. the ultimate goal of this album is to get the members laid, which will hopefully inspire them to write a second album of songs about girls leaving them. murakami
what started off as two friends playing small town bars to pick up chicks and get free beers unexpectedly exploded into the musical movement now famously known as post-post-post-impressionist-cubic blast rock. These musical geniuses are best known for their song "How to Pack a Medical Kit for a Trip" - a 12 minute masterpiece with no lyrics or music. Known for their off the wall, insane live shows, the two band members casually converse with each other on stage, sometimes allowing the audience members in the front row to hear a word or two from their conversation. themean
The Lion And The Witch, after toiling in obscurity for over six months in their hometown of El Paso, TX, bring your their debut LP on Southern Lord. "Other Person Can Be" will pummel you with Black Sabbath inspired riffs that sound like nothing you have ever heard. These dudes, believe it or not, are heavily influenced by the weed that that breathe in most all of the day. There is something about the desert that makes its way into their sound. Make sure you are wearing your earplugs when this hits your stereo because there is no turning it down!
