GRAVE058 THE APPLESEED CAST : Middle States

CD / LP / Digital Download (released on 6/7/11)

Middle States seems an appropriate title for the band’s latest release. It could be read as signifying the band’s home town of Lawrence, Kansas (a “middle” state if there ever was one), the EP’s place in the trajectory of the band’s career, a piece that alludes to its progress between its gripping seventh album, Sagargatha (2009) and it’s already eagerly-anticipated eighth record (due out on Graveface in early 2012). Or, as the title track suggests, the middle stages and transitional periods of life. Heard through the lush, brightly textured harmonies led by singer and co-founder Chris Crisci, change is a pretty alright thing.

For the Middle States EP, The Appleseed Cast sequestered itself in its own recording “compound,” having fallen in love with the freedom of crafting records without the time and budget constraints of a traditional studio during home sessions for Sagarmatha. The relaxed pace and familiar setting has served the band well. Opening the EP is cinematic rocker “End Frigid Constellations,” a song that evokes so many feelings and imagery it seems epic despite its relative shortness. The finale, “Three Rivers,” contains many of the EPs most majestic moments and showcasing the band’s live prowess and tight musicianship. The song marks the band’s first completely improvised release, but with any luck it won’t be the last.

Middle States gives insight into a band that is constantly reinventing itself and growing stronger with each passing year. If the EP is a teaser of things yet to come, we can only say it’s working brilliantly.. click here for more info on this release

Greetz!

So I've got 50 copies here (normal version) and have started shipping them out. Supposedly I'll get the rest in the next 2 weeks including the Record Club version. At that same point in time I'll have the Hospital Ships & Loose Salute LPs in me hands as well. I'll believe all of this when it happens though as there have been so many fucking delays. Anyways, obviously I'm starting with the folks who ordered first.

The vinyl turned out pretty neat methinks. Photo of non-RC version: http://twitpic.com/4tz2mh

Thanks for your support!

Yo!

For those who haven't gotten a shipping confirmation, here's the deets: Looks like I'll definitely have the rest of the vinyl in my paws no later than next week so they'll still hit you earlier than the street date. So that's something positive I suppose.

Amazing how long vinyl takes to manufacture these days eh? Guess that's an incredible sign really!

Thanks for your patience. I want my copy as well!

got my copy in today! the blue is really pretty, and the posters are awesome. i'd take pics but i got it on my way out this morning so i didn't have time to. only bummer was that there was another seam-split on the top like w/ "two conversations" :/

Awesome! And totally not awesome. What would create the seam-split if the vinyl was removed from the packaging? Just the packaging moving about in the package?? Didn't even know that was possible! I'd offer another copy but I have nothing. Does it look like the attached photo? If so, I must've missed it. There were 2 full boxes from the manufacturer that were split.

Yikes!

Yessir, exactly. The record was still in it's sleeve as well.

Who would've thought asking your stoner friends for help one night would create an issue?
