anastasis
Hi all, new here. I have a friend who is looking in to comparing vinyl to digital versions. He noticed that most FLAC rips of vinyl were considerably larger than the digital counterpart and asked me if I could give any recommendations of what he could listen to to compare the two. I know the new Foo Fighters was recorded in analog. Was mastering and cutting done specifically for the vinyl versions? What is the best sounding Vinyl record you have? Especially when compared to the digital/CD version. Thanks in advance dfc
One Hundred Fifty-Two
Where do you come up with this shit?
thesupervillain
FLAC vinyl rips are bigger than FLAC cd rips because they are usually 24-bit, 96khz. A cd is only 16-bit, 44.1khz.

itmustbereal
I think my best sounding LP is MFSL's remaster of Beck's "Sea Change". Thats off the top of my head anyway.
burntwolf
this is why i mention the white stripes record; they really made the vinyl version for vinyl... http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/oct07/articles/insidetrack_1007.htm

kidamnesiac
Best sounding record I own is Wilco - Sky Blue Sky. It slightly edges out The White Stripes - Icky Thump, in my opinion.

cardiac
True Widow - As High As... while i don't like it as much as their s/t LP, the actual SOUND of it is fucking epic. yes it's a recent record, but it's the last time I can recall having to stop what I was doing to just be stunned by sound. oakland
The reissue of Blue Train by Coletrane is insanely good. I ripped it using Final Vinyl and it sounds like he's playing the sax in my living room.
