Guest
Here we go...I love how people's sense of entitlement extends as far as TV show finales. It didn't "blow my mind", have any "oh shit moments", blah blah blah. You people are punishers at the highest levels. I am convinced that there is no ending that would have made you happy, so please, go butt a stump. Anyway, as far as Walt getting hit, I think it was M60...possibly a ricochet. After thinking about it a bit, I wonder if he expected to die when confronting the nazis. I mean, if he hadn't gotten hit, and Jesse refused, would he have just let himself get caught? xadamhudsonx
I was thinking that same thing. I don't seem him as the type to take himself out, so I believe he was prepared to either die there or just let himself get caught.

steviex2shoes
Am I correct in thinking that Walt dies on his birthday? I didn't even consider that, but yeah I would assume it was all the same day on his 52nd birthday.
Guest
So, is it possible that the series starts and ends on his birthday?

castaway
Am I correct in thinking that Walt dies on his birthday? I think that's correct, yeah. Also did anyone else notice how when he asked the dude to stay longer and play cards, he was dealt two Kings on his first hand? And his 52nd birthday... 52 cards in a deck... That's probably a stretch though
Guest
So based on the pilot, after the intro, it starts off with the bacon "50". I have to rewatch to confirm though, I just checked the wiki...thank you American college education.

I don't seem him as the type to take himself out, so I believe he was prepared to either die there or just let himself get caught. I was curious about this as well. I def didn't see Walt killing himself but also didn't think he'd be taken into custody, if anything I was thinking police-assisted "suicide" as in he points gun at them, they finish it for him. Todd's ringtone was great
3arl
I think Walt went in with the intentions to be shot by the M60 along with all the Nazis, but his instincts to save Jesse kicked in. After he did get hit he knew he didn't have long, but still wanted to give Jesse the opportunity to kill him since Walt felt responsible for ruining is life. "he said no loose ends! what about huell and brock?! and the last song wasnt good." this was an entire series, especially season, of constant "HOLY SHIT." i'm going to say there wasn't really room for that here. too much story to tell to muck it up with shock & awe just because. Guest
^ +1 I can't say for sure, but in my brain I see... Brock: in custody with grandma. Huell: he had a TV in that house, I am sure he has moved on in life.
Guest
brock is almost certainly with his grandmother. and there would be absolutely no feasible way for jesse to take custody. none. as for huell, http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/5f24c5785e/huell-s-rules

thebiglebowski
Huell is the man. Was also awesome as Landslide in Sunny this year. Wonder if he can be in Better Call Saul (given that it is a prequel)? When was he introduced to the series? Do they explicitly hire him in the middle or is there an open door for him to have been with Saul the whole time? I don't remember him going back that far but maybe mistaken. As for the stevia packet, who the hell do you think Walt is? Dude can kill you with a flower, create the world's purest meth, etc. He can open up a packet of sugar and reseal it. And as for the bullet that got him, I didn't buy that it was directly from the gun. The way the gun was rotating back and forth, he would have gotten hit many times (depending on height off the ground) or not at all. Didn't think of the ricochet idea, though. Works for me... You make a huge leap from "didn't blow my mind" to "not happy". There's about 10 levels in between.
ratbrain
my friend asked me a good question today: why did Walt leave the watch Jesse gave him on top of the payphone? the answer (for those like me who didn't watch Talking Bad because Chris Hardwick is the worst) http://www.vulture.com/2013/09/breaking-bad-finale-facts-learned-on-talking-bad.html 1. Gilligan explained that the reason Walt placed his watch (the one Jesse gave him for his 51st birthday) on top of the payphone after pretending to be the New York Times reporter was only retrofitted symbolism: The reason he had to do it was because they realized that in the flash-forward of him at Denny's that they'd shot for episode 501, Walt wasn't wearing a watch, so they had to explain where it went for continuity reasons. And so, out of necessity, they came up with what Gilligan called the "artsy fartsy" reason: It was a symbol of Walt, seeing the end is near, cutting ties with one of his "arch-nemeses," Jesse. laralaurent
This may be a bit long but Ooh man I have been looking forward to posting in here. I was at the Hollywood Forever cem finale and it was so. fucking. cool. I got there several hours early and there were already like 250 people in front of me, but it wasn't a bad wait at all. Tons of people were dressed up. So many heisenberg shirts. These owners of a candy store in beverly hills were huge BB fans and they showed up dressed in hazmats with blue candy rock they passed out. So it was a fun time of people chatting about their love for the series. And then Aaron Paul drives by yelling YEAH BITCH and everyone went nuts. Inside there was this giant screen and a little VIP area in front of it where the cast and crew and their friends and fam were. Then the GA fan tickets were right behind that. So you could be a bit far from the screen but I happened to be front center. Huell was just walking around the fan area and passing out autographs. So he made it out guys! Aaron Paul and his wife came out to talk about the kind campaign which raised 1.8 million and then the pilot came on next. It was awesome being with the crew and cast and all these fans watching the pilot. People were yelling out jokes "Don't spend the money on strippers, Jesse!" and it was just a light hearted moment. The finale was a complete different story. No one made a sound beyond just reacting to the episode. Great experience. Afterwards we all screamed and stood for those involved. I'll post some photos if anyone wants it but just to add some perspective of what this was like, it kind of was the opposite of my expectations in a way. I thought it was going to be very fan centric, maybe that we could meet some of the cast. It took me a bit back to see this sectioned off VIP area and during the Kimmel Q&A the cast was a bit back and farther away than even the screen. And there was no booze and food. BUT, it wasn't disappointing to me. I got the impression that this event was truly for the cast and crew and they just allowed fans to witness it. It was touching. The actors and crew were catching up and hugging and truly excited to see each other and kind of revel in their hard-work. But they wanted fans to be a part of that. So I feel very lucky to have been there. It was incredible. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, tokimedo, jtcohenour and 3 others
