tittus
Interpunk packaged my order VERY well. separate cardboard fillers for each record and the pin package taped to the backside of the cardboard so it wouldn't dent anything. Very happy! Also, this album is awesome. Took me 3 listens. Mine came noticeably well packed too. Very happy with it.
ronniegwilliams
Received mine today; I have a lot of mixed opinions on this record. Though I think it is amazing musically, and I don't think Brian has ever sounded better as a vocalist, I understand why everybody here is up in arms about the repetition of certain lyrical phrasing (blood, queen, youth, young, etc). I feel like this would be an absolute perfect record had Brian maybe experimented with different lyrical elements. Also, I feel like it is far superior to American Slang as a whole, based on the musical composition, as well as the mixing. Throughout American Slang, Alex's guitar work almost sounded like a guy "jamming" over another band. His guitar work seemed as if somebody were noodling over a set of very well put together pop songs; whereas, Handwritten was a perfect mix of pop songs that blended together wonderfully. Ignoring a certain cliche grouping of lyrics, this is an incredible album.
thewmatic
This is ok i guess, it sounds musically better than American Slang, and is mixed cleaner than any of their previous, I have the same problem with Handwritten as I had with American Slang though, just too many slower paced songs. They aren't as fun to listen to anymore. Nothing that demands you to really sing-a-long. To me this is just nice adult contemporary to play while doing something else. degenerex
I gave this about 6 or 7 listens before making judgement, and I'm not very impressed at all. It's a good record, but I just feel like they've been slowly turning into a good band rather than a great band. Not much really holds my interest on this one and it is probably my least favorite album of theirs.
hipsterasfolk
It was a good album for sure, just it is typical GLA. 4 LPs and how many 7"s later...... sing about some girl, make reference to 80's pop lyrics, and speak in metaphors. Overall the album is exactly what you expect from them, catchy songs, raspy voices, and overall just a good record.
billya
I'm loving this record. It sounds soooo good on vinyl.

tittus
Nothing about this record has me coming back for more. It's a good album, not great. That's just after the initial listen though. I'll give a few more listens and hope it grows on me.

idreamofpunk
Oh hell no. I did not just pay $36.13 to get another blue copy. Where does it say this? Edit: just found it. Why can't this shit be told to the places selling it up front? That way, they're not selling something as something it isn't.

idreamofpunk
So where were they getting all their numbers from? 500 and 440 going to Europe and all that BS? And on top of that, why are they bothering to differentiate US and Euro still?
benjo09
It may be like the Horrible Crowes and 59 Sound where they're basically the same just pressed in Europe
idreamofpunk
I'm hoping, and I'm fine with that being the case. But holy fuck, I'm going to be pissed if I open up the record and find out that I spent $30+ on something I already have. Love the album, but I'm not goin' all pokemon on this shit to needlessly spend money THAT badly... (clarified as "that badly" for all the people who think variant collecting is stupid.) xadamhudsonx
It may be like the Horrible Crowes and 59 Sound where they're basically the same just pressed in Europe That would be alright. You could clearly differentiate the two pressings of Elsie. Hopefully it'll be the same for Handwritten.
slinch
If that's the case I might just try to cancel my preorder for the EU press and go for the US one. I don't feel like waiting additional 3 weeks just for the "made in EU" sticker.

The entire time I've figured it would look just as the US press does, but pressed in Europe. Nothing has led me to believe otherwise. idreamofpunk
Yeah, just like the black '59 sound Euro press, I'm fine if it was just pressed elsewhere and henceforth has a different matrix number. I don't care if it's blue, I just want there to be A difference.

Nothing has led me to believe otherwise. I would assume that if it were going to be identical to the US press it wouldn't anywhere near as limited as 500. Banquet stating that the Euro press being as limited as it was (compared to 10,000+ of the US press) led me to believe it'd be something different than what was available via standard retail. jonnywreck_669
This album is awesome on first listen. Definitely their most mature record to date. The blue looks and feels great (weight-wise) as well.
