Some people are just too lazy to take pics of their own records to sell on eBay and resort to stealing & using mine:

Thanks. That tour lineup was definitely odd. But I guess it was effective since I became a Coheed fan.

So pic dude is taking my pic down after I messaged him. I got this reply:

"Sure ill take it down, i took it off google not which ever blog your referencing. and just so you know the record i am selling is in amazing condition and i am in no way trying to mislead anyone. i am a good honest seller"

I only said it was misleading since it was my pic of my record and not the one he's selling thus not being representative of the item being sold.

usually see it go from between $20-$30, so you're fine.

Yeah but is it worth paying $30 when the shipping says it could 26-35 days. Plus he has complaints from people saying he doesn't return emails. So I could not get it and it would be too late to file with paypal.

i didn't read the 26-35 days, but in that case, absolutely not..

Gatefold (Cali) has it for $29ppd.

I'm such an idiot. Bid on this without even noticing the location or $20 shipping. Is this a fail or a win?

If you're concerned, don't pay. Dude should have listed it on ebay.jp! It says $4 shipping, and that's ebay.com policy.

Since the person listed the item on ebay.com (and not a non-US ebay site), they are required to offer a $4 shipping option since they listed in a 'media mail' compatible category. 2008 is when ebay imposed that policy, and there is no exception for international sellers. Call it a tax on foreigners to have the luxury to sell to us Yanks. Anyway, so you don't get in trouble with non-paying bidder junk, just pay the bill for $9.99 + $4, and nothing more. The selller may or may not send you the item. You always have paypal protection, and the seller can get in trouble for not sending the item (just like you can get in trouble for not paying). Just remember, you are under no obligation to pay more than the minimum listed shipping amount for that category. If you really want the record, then be generous and send the extra money, because it is a rip off for international sellers.

do you have a link to the page with the policy that says this? I've had an issue with a couple international sellers before which luckily got solved, but this would have been helpful.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/maximum_shipping.html

http://pages.ebay.com/sell/august2008update/maxshipping/

http://pages.ebay.com/sell/August2008Update/OtherFAQ/

Note on the first page: "International sellers listing directly on eBay.com in the U.S. are also required to specify a shipping cost less than or equal to the maximum shipping cost on their first flat rate U.S. shipping cost."

It only applies to sellers on ebay.com. I someone lists on ebay.ca or ebay.co.uk or ebay.jp or whatever, then this doesn't apply. Also, I used to report auctions that listed higher shipping amounts in the description text, but ebay has never, ever done anything about it. They have the policy to make buyers feel good, but don't implement it in any way, so sellers are never held responsible. If you don't pay the extra shipping, you just find yourself in a situation where you have a paid, but the seller wants more money and you can't do anything to force them to ship the item.
