The Great Gatsby Soundtrack LP on Third Man

Recommended Posts

I guess this is what I don't get.

What are people collecting? Great Gatsby stuff? Third Man stuff?

And $250?! Seriously? It just blows my mind that someone would pay that, for a mediocre soundtrack, from what may be (based on reviews) a mediocre movie, from a label that releases stuff like this all the time.

I mean - I thought about buying it to resell, but $250? I just can't get over it.

Third Man stuff. This has nothing to do with the Great Gatsby and everything to do with the cult of TMR.

Can't wait for someone on White Swirl to sell this for $350 and everyone to be like "Great Price!" in about a year.

I think there will be many people who will buy this only to flip, and that some will make decent money doing it, but that being said, the profit margin on this will be a lot lower on this than most other products being bought out of nashville. The flippers like to camp out and hire bums to stand in line for them, buy 3-4 or more of the featured record for $15-20 each and then get $300 each for them the same day. This requires a lot more capitol, without the same guarantee of return.

What are you risking? If you want the item as a collector, there is no "risk". The only risk is if you are flipping it.

I was referring to the risk of flipping it.

I guess from one perspective, people collect things because they are valuable. If no one will pay $250 for this after today, then does it really have the value?

Of course, other people collect things to have them, look at them, etc.

At least one nice thing about this is that it will have some actual worth, since it is made with precious metal.

Why cant soundtracks with artists that I actually enjoy put out something as nice as this Third Man release? Every single artist is a pass on this soundtrack minus Jack White of course.
