TFP
Zack Snyder just announced this at SDCC! Batman/Superman should be out in 2015 and will be based on Frank Miller's "Dark Knight Returns"! http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/JoshWildingNewsAndReviews/news/?a=83754 Zack Snyder arrived at Warner Bros.' Hall H panel to a hugely positive reaction from fans, immediately telling them that he was there to confirm a Man of Steel sequel. After teasing fans by saying that there was only one thing he could reveal about follow-up, he brought Henry Lennox out to read something pertaining to the movie. "I want you to remember Clark in all the years to come. In all your private moments. In all the years to come, my hand at your throat. I want you to remember, the one man who beat you." That's right, it's a quote from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns! Snyder would then go on to confirm Superman/Batman, adding that the classic story will inform the movie. jerseydave77
Great, now they want him to rub his stench off on Batman? Man of Steel was a crime against filmmaking and comics. circuit bored records
Guest
Great, now they want him to rub his stench off on Batman? Man of Steel was a crime against filmmaking and comics. Not only that, but they are going to defile Dark Knight Returns, one of the best Batman (or superhero) stories ever written. Didn't Dark Knight Rises already shit on that idea enough? jerseydave77
I really really really hate this idea. I feel filthy about it. How many places can Snyder insert Lois Lane where she doesn't belong? Asshole made a where's Waldo movie instead of Superman so God help us all if this really comes to pass.
thebiglebowski
Pardon me if I am being retarded but this is one movie, right? Or a sequel and a crossover based on tdkr?
saxonviolons
Man of Steel was a crime against filmmaking and comics. LOL what? Probably the dumbest remark I've seen about the Man of Steel movie.

jerseydave77
LOL what? Probably the dumbest remark I've seen about the Man of Steel movie. You thought that a good movie? Then you in fact made the dumbest remark. That film had me physically kicking seat in front of me it was so awful. People are cutting it slack due to how bad the last one was when in fact there isn't really a better, just two truly shifty movies.

thebiglebowski
Just staying on point...I think most people would point to the story (which is obviously the most important part) as being the problem in MOS. I disagree and liked the movie didn't love it. Just saying, I don't think you can really give Cavill any shit. The special effects were great. They finally made a superman movie that just had the right feel. Well, dark knight returns is a fantastic story. So I think if you put the two halves together, could be epic! bluedeni
Man of Steel didn't feel like a Superman story as much as Sci-Fi movie about first contact. There are a million things wrong with the movie . Was it better then the last one? Yes. Does that makes this version good? No. I think they should do Red Son.
jhulud
Zack Snyder is single-handedly destroying all that I held dear in my comic book-reading teens. Thanks, Zack. BobbyHill
3arl
I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for now. I still think that if Man of Steel was half an hour longer (and that half hour was dialogue and character driven) it would've been way way better. Maybe it'll happen in a director's cut. I also really like Watchmen.

jhulud
If there had been no graphic novel source in existence, Watchmen would have been great. But being that there is a graphic novel it was adapted from, the movie was a complete and utter piece of shit. No wonder Alan Moore was pissed. I've read the graphic novel like a dozen times, but I've learned to like the movie for what it is. I think it was faithful enough to confuse people who hadn't read it, but changed enough to piss off die hard fans.Alan Moore is also basically a bitter curmudgeon who hates everything. So his opinion doesn't really matter to me.
GMay
I'm confused too and I hope this isn't a direct sequel. I feel like they still need to develop Superman/Clark Kent further. I don't think they need to thrust him into a storyline with Batman. I know they're trying to get everything started for Justice League, and if this is successful, this will more than likely kick start everything for a Justice League film, if Man of Steel hasn't done that already, without having to develop a Flash and/or Wonder Woman film first. I don't want Batman's re-introduction to be in a Man of Steel film. I liked the idea of reintroducing him in the Justice League film and then having his stand alone film after that picking up in year 2 for him. Had the exact same thought. Didn't he just disappear and live in the woods cut off from the world for a while?

The more I think about it, there has to be a Superman sequel and a separate movie for returns. I mean, it's a batman book. Obviously Superman plays a part but there is no way to consider it a sequel to man of steel unless they REALLY go off course with it. There's no way they're rebooting batman as a 50 year old. I'd guess it's just a jumping point for the conflict between the two.

The directors cut was way better, even though they cut the squid out I still feel liked the movie worked. Jackie earl Haley's Rorschach was amazing! I'd guess it's just a jumping point for the conflict between the two. It's a valid point but then the quote doesn't really work. It's Batman's parting words to Superman, not an intro to the justice league. I don't know. I don't really feel like speculating anymore with no details and will leave it for others. The whole thing is definitely puzzling but we'll see.
batman
i don't think it'll be a TDKR movie... they JUST did a 2 part animated adaptation. the line was likely just a reference to a notable meeting of the two characters. i'm glad they're doing this instead of jumping right into JL. i would rather have batman movies apart from the DCU, but unfortunately marvel really changed the game with the success of the avengers. MOS was good (not great) and i actually liked watchmen a lot, so i don't have a problem with snyder being the guy. he just needs a good script, and david goyer isn't going to cut it. i'm interested to see what happens with this. it'll be pretty damn hard to follow up nolan's trilogy though.
