samyatthedisco
Hey Guys, I've been collecting Vinyl, like... for almost 10 years, My collection is almost 500 "New Era" records, and almost 1500 vintage records (You know, 60's, 70's and 80's, some 90's).I don't have any issue with sound quality of vintage, as I know that some of them have affected sound through these years... And Actually Almosyt all of them sound quite awesome still! But then is the thing with new vinyl... I started my collection with some 12" singles, mainly because I like big format art and they look amazing when they are pictured sleeves.Almost all the Singles sound awesome, Then Bought "Love, Angel, Music, Baby" by Gwen Stefani, and my mind was blown away!, The soun quality was superb, by far most of anything I have ever listened to.Every song had this amazing sounds coming out the grooves, non distortion and the biggest base and crystal clear highs I have ever experienced... But then, Bought Rihanna's "Good Girl Gone Bad", And my excitment for the great sounf of new vinyl was fading, every single song aproaching to the center of the record sounded so distorted my ears started to bleed (Ok, not that much, but sounds quite terrible, distorted, and to much high's), Was pretty sad, cuz actually My faves (songs) were the one's affected... I still kept buying records and some of them sound AWESOME!, bit there are others that sounds bad, with the same prob... Well, thought that was something I had to deal with now that I'm collecting Vinyl... and then bought "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge" of MCR... I WANTED TO DIE!!! The SOUNDS is so crappy My head exploded (in a bad way), I was so pissed a record couldn't sound so awful!... So, the thing here is... wich are the records you think have problems with bad sounding or bad mastering, and actually is prettyfrustrating that record companies don't give an F for sound quiality on some releases, I know they just release on this format for the "nostalgyc" market, but... let's face it, they need to improve in what they are selling, because Vinyl is pretty expensive. Some of the records I realize have sound issues of my collection are these:- MCR "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge"- Christina Aguilera - "Stripped" (Center songs sound terrible)- Ke$ha - ANIMAL (same as Stripped)- Rihanna - Good Girl Gone Bad (Same)- Kraftwerk - The Mix (Has an invisible scratch that keeps a song on repeat, the same error on all 3 copies i got) - Ellie Goulding - Halcyon (Volume is so low)- Fun. - Some Nights (Volume Down, but it works quite well turning it up)- Pink - The Thruth about love (Center songs distorted)- Tegan and Sara (sounds kinda Low-fi for my taste compared to the digital (wich I'm afraid to say I enjoyed more)...And those are the one's I can remeber at the time, Let me know if you have some of these, do you find them with the same bad sound, do you have other releases that sounds crappy?, let me know! slinch

parklife
Yeah, I've been thinking about it, could you recomend one?... if the record hasn't already been damaged/grooveworn, then i get absolutely zero inner groove distortion with an audio-technica at120e (or an at440mla, but why break the bank when you don't need to) samyatthedisco
mrewest
I don't doubt that Rihanna record sounds bad. I notice the same issue when her songs are on the radio, music videos, youtube, mp3s, commercials, tv performances, you name it. biodigitaljazz and lexicondevil
HoneyFrosted
Is that a real issue with Kraftwerk - The Mix? Anyone confirm? I love that album and did consider getting it.

I'll check out prices, thanks for the advice!
samyatthedisco
Is that a real issue with Kraftwerk - The Mix? Anyone confirm? I love that album and did consider getting it. Well I bought the first time and it happened, thought it was my turntable, so i checkd it in another two and did the same thing on the same moment of the song... So no visible scratch... I went to the record store and complained and they give me a new sealed copy, THE SAME... and then again... THE same and they checked it on their turntable and it was doing it too... Probably a bad lot, but then a friend of mine told me he was experiencing the same error and he bought it on another retailer... so... maybe it is a pressing error
mrrom92
What's your gear like? I don't doubt that some of those records actually do sound like shit, but if you're generally having bad IGD on so many records, you might want to check your alignment or get a better cartridge. samyatthedisco
wanna sell me mcr for a decent price then? I've been thinking about it... The day I find a NM copy of "The Sounds - Dying To Say This To You", I'm totally selling MCR's. So If you know about one of those let me know.
